Microsoft to teach Artificial Intelligence to students of Madhya Pradesh schools

In the new era of technology Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the next big thing. Keeping this in mind, at least 53 schools in Madhya Pradesh will teach students of classes 8 and 9 Artificial Intelligence (AI) from this academic session (2021-22). The Madhya Pradesh State Board of Open School Education is set to launch the study of emerging technology artificial intelligence (AI) as separate subjects in the school curriculum. For this, global tech giant Microsoft has been hired to teach the students and also train state teachers to enhance their understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Around 1,500 teachers and over 40,000 students will be benefitted from this project.

Artificial Intelligence has with time became an essential part of our daily life since technology is used in a wide area of day to day services. The younger generations are the one to give a shape to the AI technique. Hence, it is significant for schools to introduce the concept to their curriculum. While the debate regarding the teaching methodology rages among educators, psychologists and parents, it is this emerging technology that is required to be noticed as well. In a bid to mould the education system, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decided to include AI in their syllabus as an elective subject for students.


Knowledge-Based Morphological Classification of Galaxies from Vision Features

This paper presents a knowledge-based approach to the task of learning and identifying galaxies from their images. To this effect, we propose a crowd-sourced pipeline approach that employs two systems - case based and rule based systems. First, the approach extracts morphological features i.e. features describing the structure of the galaxy such as its shape, central characteristics e.g., has a bar or bulge at its center)etc., using computer vision techniques. Then it employs a case based reasoning system and a rule based system to perform the classification task. Our initial results show that this pipeline is effective in learning reasonably accurate models on this complex task.
