Brightest and hungriest black hole ever detected: Terrifying void gobbles up one Sun every single day, scientists say
Astronomers have found the brightest object in the universe – a'hellish' black hole that consumes a star a day. Described as'the most hellish place in the universe', the black hole is 12 billion light years away and has a mass roughly 17 billion times that of our solar system's sun. Due to their immense gravitational pull, black holes grow in mass by capturing nearby material, whether it's stars, planets and even other black holes. The matter being pulled in toward this black hole, known as J0529-4351, forms a whopping disc that measures seven light-years in diameter. All galaxies have a supermassive black hole at their cores.
Netflix's Love, Death and Robots finds the 'nerd joy' of adult animation
What happens when animation geeks get the greenlight to produce whatever they want? You get Netflix's Love, Death and Robots, an anthology series that's meant to remind viewers that cartoons aren't just for kids. You'd think that would be a foregone conclusion in 2022, decades after anime has become mainstream, Adult Swim's irreverent comedies took over dorm rooms, and just about network/streaming platform has their own "edgy" animated series (Arcane and Big Mouth on Netflix, Invincible on Amazon Prime). Still, it's all too common to see the medium being diminished. At the Oscars this year, the best animated feature award was introduced as something entirely meant for kids, prompting the filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), to demand that Hollywood elevate the genre instead.
How Artificial Intelligence Is Changing Dentistry » Dallas Innovates
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is nothing new in health care applications. AI can be seen in robotic surgeries, image and data analysis, automation of administrative tasks, and assisting clinical diagnostics. The use of this technology is helping providers offer faster service, more accurately diagnose diseases, and analyze data to identify trends or genetic information. We are now seeing these tools expand beyond the typical hospital or primary care setting to include health care providers like dentists to create a new standard of care, improve business operations, and support public health research in dentistry. I sat down with Florian Hillen, Founder and CEO of VideaHealth, an AI and machine learning company created to improve the delivery of health care services for dentistry, to hear more about how AI is impacting this field of medicine.
University of Helsinki launches Ethics of AI online course
Finland has released a free online artificial intelligence (AI) course which aims to educate public administration, businesses and the general public about the technology and to consider what it should be used for. The Ethics of AI course offered by the University of Helsinki has been designed in a partnership with the cities of Helsinki, Amsterdam and London as well as Finland's Ministry of Finance. Questions pertaining to the ethics of AI are topical, as many people are already making ethical choices in their work, for example, on data use. The course sets out to help them understand what the ethical use of artificial intelligence means and what it requires from both society and individuals. "These questions include how our data is used, who is responsible for decisions made by computers and whether, say, facial recognition systems are used in a way that acknowledges human rights. In a broader sense, it's also about how we wish to utilise advancing technical solutions," said Anna-Mari Rusanen, course coordinator for Ethics of AI.
Artificial Intelligence: The Next Front of the Fight Against Institutional Racism
It's been three months since the world was shaken by the brutal murder of George Floyd. The image of a white police officer kneeling on a black citizen for 8 minutes and 46 seconds are still fresh in America's collective memory. And unfortunately, it won't be the last one either. Racism in this country has deep roots. It is a festering wound that's either left ignored or treated with an infective medicine.
How many ways to use AI for Mobile app development
Over the past decades, computer technology has been developing with an extremely high exponential rate. Humanity develops the power of computer systems implementing their application into all spheres of our daily life (production, education, medicine, economics, etc.) using devices. Thanks to the progress and continuous development of science and technology, the scope of problems to be solved are growing, and the sizes of these most used devices (computers) are decreasing. So could we assume before that computer programs/machines will be able to think, or in other words, have a certain level of thinking equivalent to the human one? Indeed, human intelligence, most likely, does not have the same computational speed as computers, but one thing is important -- a human thinks abstractly, they can solve problems, leaving some details out of the account. In addition, human intelligence can generate ideas, as well as introduce innovations.
The Acclimation and Legality of Superior Machines
We live in a world where we are constantly in contact with Artificial Intelligence, perhaps without even being aware. We live in a world where we are constantly in contact with Artificial Intelligence, perhaps without even being aware. It may not seem that way due to the stigma that Hollywood has put into our mind about what exactly Artificial Intelligence is (killer robots, omniscient software, etc.) but it's really a lot simpler than that. John McCarthy (2007) defined Artificial Intelligence as the science and engineering of making intelligent [having the computational ability to achieve goals in the world] machines. Right now, the main way in which these machines "learn" is through rote learning (trail and error) and drawing inferences. It is widely believed that "AI [artificial intelligence] will drive the human race" (Prime Minister Navendra Modi) and there is not true evidence for or against the contrary, but it is widely accepted that A.I. does and will have a extreme influence on day to day life.
Artificial Intelligence in Web Development: What You Should Know
A lot of people use the Internet for different reasons. The Internet Live Stats shows that there are about 4.3 billion Internet users all over the world today. This means that more and more people are taking advantage of the Internet and what it can do. They can use it as a platform to showcase their products and services to their target markets. Even the whole world can become their stage.
Process & Philosophy Behind 'Training Intelligent Machines' -MobileCoderz
To address the complexities that arose while solving large & complicated scenarios, this manual training process fell short in potential. But with the advent of AI & ML, the complete cyberspace has taken a giant leap forward and the process of training these Algorithmic bots has been automated. They don't rely on humans to supervise or train them. Once their artificial neural structure (ANN) achieves a certain level of maturity, they start learning on their own when exposed to different training sets/ data sets. Meanwhile, the effort that goes into training a bot in its nascent stage can't just be denied.
The State of Artificial Intelligence in 2018: A Good Old Fashioned Re…
Sunny Mishra, RPA CoE - Consulting Architect at ExxonMobil at ExxonMobil Great deck, but I have some minor issues. As a universal law, we cannot teach machines more intelligence than what we have at this point in time. So, instead of calling "Artificial Intelligence", we should drop the word "Artificial" and the word "Intelligence". I do not believe that there is any "artificiality" to any intelligence. First of all, Intelligence is gained/learned from us following "Rules" and Data" that we have associated with since we are born. This learning process dictates our outcome and that is fixed. There is no such thing as "Gut Feeling". It does not exist....me simply make it up to make any point heard across. So no matter how big or complex machines we build, it will only learn to behave by the "Rules" and the associated "Data", which always has a "fixed" outcome or result, same as ours. By laws of universe, without evolving, we would have remained as cave dwellers. So, every day of our life, we observe new rules and results which evolves us to the next level. But, If for example, I am locked up in a dark room, isolated from observing any new rules or data or results, I will be at the same level of intelligence as the day I get locked in. Similarly, if we cannot generate any new intelligence in isolation, we cannot feed the robots any new rules and hence they will remain at a certain level of intelligence for ever. What I am trying to say here is "...AI will never be more intelligent than its creator...". 3 months ago Reply Are you sure you want to Yes No Your message goes here Great deck, but I have some minor issues.
