Anker's 'AI party speaker' can automatically remove vocals for karaoke nights

Engadget

At CES 2025, Anker has a pair of new speakers under its Soundcore brand. The first, the Soundcore Rave 3S, is a 349 party speaker with AI-powered karaoke tricks and built-in light shows. Joining it is the SoundCore Boom 2 Pro, a more powerful follow-up to its non-Pro namesake, which adds boomier bass and better protection from water and dust. The appropriately named Rave 3S is described as an "AI party speaker" with 200W output and 108dB volume. Anker says it can fill spaces of up to 1,076 square feet. Like some other Soundcore models, its RGB LEDs can create a light show that syncs with the beat of your music.

UE's Blast and Megablast join the Alexa smart speaker family

Engadget

Today, the company introduces the Blast and Megablast, the network-capable and Alexa-enabled siblings of UE's Boom 2 and Megaboom. This new line was built explicitly for the Amazon Alexa ecosystem of apps and features, and along with the Power Up charging base, offers always-on functionality to cater to your verbal demands. Unlike many other options though, this one also includes an on-board battery for portability. Fans of the Boom 2 and Megaboom don't have to worry, as those products will continue to exist (along with the tiny Wonderboom), but the new models eschew some Bluetooth features in exchange for a focus on WiFi connectivity. The main difference (aside from Alexa) is that the Blast and Megablast will only work on their own or in tandem over a WiFi network.

One of the most popular Bluetooth speakers just hooked up with Siri

Mashable

Ultimate Ears's UE Boom 2 and UE Megaboom, two of the most popular portable Bluetooth speakers around, are getting an upgrade to make them more like Amazon's Alexa-equipped Tap. A new software update for the speakers' apps (free on iOS and Android) adds Siri and Google Now, allowing push-to-talk voice commands just like on Amazon's new portable bluetooth speaker. SEE ALSO: Ultimate Ears' Boom 2 speaker cranks the volume up to eleven After downloading the new app update, users will be able to press the Bluetooth button and ask either Siri or Google Now to play a song according to Ultimate Ears. In addition to songs, users will also be able to ask Siri and Google Now (with the "OK, Google" command) for anything they can do on their iOS or Android devices, such as getting restaurant suggestions and directions. We haven't tried the new voice assistant integration ourselves yet, but early reports indicate there are some quirks.
