The Korean tech giant on Friday took the wraps off of the Galaxy Tab S5e, its lightest and thinnest-ever tablet that's also equipped with the Bixby voice assistant for the first time. The Tab S5e starts at $399 and goes on sale later this year. The Tab S5e is Samsung's lightest and thinnest-ever tablet that's also equipped with the Bixby voice assistant for the first time. The Tab S5e features a 10.5-inch screen with an ultra-thin, super light metal casing that's 5.5mm thick and weighs just 400g, or less than 1lb.

Samsung has finally unveiled its own smart speaker in a bid to take on Amazon, Apple, and Google. At the firm's Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York today, Samsung teased a look at its Galaxy Home speaker, equipped with the Bixby voice assistant. But, Samsung remained tight-lipped on most of the details. The firm hasn't yet revealed how much it will cost or when it will officially launch, but promised more information is to come at the developer conference in November. At the firm's Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York today, Samsung teased a look at its sleek Galaxy Home speaker, equipped with the Bixby voice assistant.

The company was quick to boast about its AI helper at the Galaxy S8 launch, but revealed that the signature voice feature wouldn't arrive until later in the spring... and even then, it only had a full launch in South Korea. Americans had to make do with a preview. At last, though, it's becoming widely available: Samsung is officially rolling out Bixby's voice assistance to S8 and S8 Plus owners in the US. Every American with one of the flagship phones will get to talk to Bixby once an update arrives "tonight."

A recent report is claiming that Samsung is planning to release its very own news app that will be called News Today. Information on the new Samsung app was first reported by SamMobile, which cited "trusted sources." The app will not only provide the latest news articles, but it will also apparently be able to provide users with podcasts. It's believed that users will be able to subscribe to podcasters and channels, and they should also be able to search for podcasts as well.


Samsung's Smart Speaker Is Codenamed Vega, Development Slowed Down Due To Bixby

The development of the device is said to have slowed down due to the lack of progress with Bixby. Samsung's smart speaker is said to be codenamed as Vega, according to The Wall Street Journal (via The Verge). Unfortunately, the WSJ's report didn't include details about the smart speaker's specifications, nor did it provide a timeframe for when consumers can expect it to be released. What was made certain about the report is the development of project Vega is being slowed down.

Samsung has delayed the launch of its new voice-activated personal assistant feature on its latest smartphone. Voice-powered assistant Bixby - which allows users to search and categorise photographs and information by using voice commands - was due to debut on the electronics giant's new Galaxy S8 smartphones as an answer to Apple's Siri. The South Korean company announced that the much anticipated Bixby feature was being dropped just days before the launch of the S8. Samsung's eagerly anticipated iPhone rival the Galaxy S8 (left) and Samsung Galaxy S8 (right) were launched at joint events in New York and London last month The global roll out of the phone will take place on 21 April. While Samsung did not give a reason for the delay, previous reports have suggested the software was lacking in the days ahead of its launch.

When Samsung introduced the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 to the world, the company proudly shared that the Android devices will have their own voice assistant called Bxby. Unfortunately, consumers shouldn't expect to get their hands on the new Siri rival as it was recently found out that Bixby will not ship with the flagship phones. On Tuesday, CNET learned that the key feature that was supposed to debut when the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 start shipping at the end of the month will not come with the handsets. The South Korea giant has confirmed that its new voice assistant will not be operational out of the box, so consumers won't be able to use it starting April 21. Samsung said that while key features of Bixby will be functional at launch, the voice assistant will not be available for use until the later part of spring. "Key features of Bixby, including Vision, Home and Reminder, will be available with the global launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 on April 21.

Galaxy S8's Bixby AI Assistant Spotted On Samsung's Italian Website

Samsung is expected to launch its own AI assistant for the Galaxy S8, but its name has always been a subject of debate. Thanks to the Italian Samsung website, it does appear like the company's assistant will indeed be called Bixby. Samsung's AI assistant for the Galaxy S8 has a few names floating around, namely Viv, Bixby and Kestra. On the Italian Samsung website under its updated privacy policy, the site mentions Bixby by name located in the voice services section, according to TechRadar. The webpage doesn't give out any specific tasks that Bixby is capable of doing, but it did shed some light on what it can do.
