Top Irish innovators recognised at AI Awards

Top Irish innovators have been recognised at the third annual AI Awards, with STATSports, Fire1, ACI Worldwide and Infant Research Centre among this year's winners. The awards are designed to support the development of data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI) in Ireland, recognising how AI can be used ethically to help solve some of the biggest business, academic, environmental and health challenges facing our society today. University College Cork's Infant Centre, which uses deep learning to detect neonatal seizures, won an award for the best application of AI in an academic research body, beating competition from shortlisted entries Maynooth University for Terrain AI, and Tyndall National Institute for Wearable AI.It is the third time the centre has won the award. ACI Worldwide was named best application of AI in a Large Enterprise for its development of a patented technology to transform fraud prevention in the payment solutions sector. Also shortlisted in the category was Bank of Ireland, Zalando and Shutterstock.

Seven Irish leaders in AI revealed at major awards ceremony

Researchers, start-ups and multinationals have been named among the winners of this year's AI Awards. Now in its second year, the AI Awards are run by AI Ireland, a non-profit business with backing from Microsoft Ireland and Alldus International. The organisation runs a number of community websites and monthly meetups supporting the area of data science, machine learning and AI in Ireland. Seven awards were handed out as part of the event today (20 November), with those shortlisted coming from academia, start-ups, SMEs and multinationals. The first of these awards was for the use of AI in a sector, with the winner named as speech recognition start-up SoapBox Labs.

Second AI Awards See a 50% Increase a Diverse Range of Organisations

Today, AI Ireland received a record 50% increase in entries in its second year, showcasing innovation in Artificial Intelligence across healthcare, finance, customer service, communications, and academia. The second AI Awards 2019 will be presented at the Gibson Hotel on Wednesday 20th November. These Awards, which are part of the not-for-profit organisation AI Ireland, support the growth and development of Data Science, Machine learning, and Artificial Intelligence in Ireland. This year also saw the introduction of a new category for Intelligent Automation-Best Use of RPA (Robotic Process Automation) to reflect the rapidly growing sector within AI in the Irish market. "The increase in nominations shows the Irish AI sector is innovating with potentially game changing outcomes for organisations and society," said Mark Kelly, Chief Customer Officer at Alldus & Founder of AI Ireland.


WorkFusion Awarded Best Innovation in RPA and Best Application of AI in Financial Services Markets Insider

Judges of the third annual AIconics selected WorkFusion as offering the Best Innovation in RPA from a shortlist that included three of the largest RPA providers.
