Imagine if artificial intelligence (AI) could pick the next Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, Bill Gates or Elon Musk? It may be just around the corner according to a QUT researcher into entrepreneurship. A QUT study is looking for thousands of people to complete a short online survey asking them to look at photographs and identify which people are entrepreneurs. The results will be compared to the performance of AI models given the same challenge. Led by Professor Martin Obschonka Director of QUT's Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research, the aim of the project is to gauge the capacity of modern AI in recognising entrepreneurship potential in a variety of people.

Both Google and OpenAI announced plans to open-source their deep learning code Monday. Elon Musk's OpenAI released Universe, a software platform for measuring and training an AI's general intelligence across games, websites and other applications. Google's parent Alphabet is putting its entire DeepMind Lab training environment codebase on GiftHub, making it easier for anyone to train their own AI systems. DeepMind may have defeated a world champion at the difficult game Go, but to advance its learning further, Alphabet says that AI agents require more detailed environments to help with AI research. The company is opening-sourcing DeepMind Lab to programmers that want to use it.

In fact, AI promises to change our lives in ways we are beginning to experience, according to a survey produced by Stanford University. With a project called One Hundred Study on Artificial Intelligence (A100), Stanford is taking the long view of AI. The study, written by a panel of AI experts from various fields like healthcare, continue to release reports examining how AI will change different aspects of daily life.
