'AI powerhouse': White House encourages Americans to provide ideas for artificial intelligence strategy
'Some Future Day' author Marc Beckman discusses how to incorporate artificial intelligence into daily life on'Fox & Friends.' The White House is opening its artificial intelligence plan up to Americans to contribute policy ideas to the Trump administration to ensure that the United States is "the undeniable leader" in AI technology. President Donald Trump signed an executive order at the end of January on artificial intelligence, which White House officials say shows that he is "dedicated to America's global leadership in AI technology innovation." That order directed the development of an AI Action Plan. On Thursday, the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy encouraged the American people to share policy ideas for the AI Action Plan by March 15.
Identifying relevant indicators for monitoring a National Artificial Intelligence Strategy
Pelissari, Renata, Suyama, Ricardo, Duarte, Leonardo Tomazeli, Earp, Henrique Sá
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been one of the main drivers for the development of cutting-edge technologies that are impacting society at different levels [1-3]. To harness the benefits of AI, while mitigating the risks, governments are developing National Strategies, seeking geopolitical protagonism and leveraging economic, social and cultural progress [4]. Launched in 2017, the Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy [5] was the first national strategy with the goal of guiding the priorities of AI policy at the country level [6]. Finland also developed its national AI strategy in 2017, closely followed by Japan, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom in 2018.

Artificial Intelligence Strategies For Multimodal Fusion - A Path Towards Precision Oncology
Cancer is a significant threat worldwide. In a study published in ACS Cancer, authors Bray et al. stated that cancer may overtake cardiovascular disease as the leading cause of premature death worldwide over the course of this century. Cancer biomarkers are the biological molecules produced by the tumor in a person; this helps characterize the disease's state and prognosis. Prognostic markers give insight into the survival and disease progression. Despite the biomarker testing and targetting, varied treatment responses have been observed across patients.
How To Develop An Artificial Intelligence Strategy: 9 Things Every Business Must Include
Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform every business – in the same way (and possibly more) as the internet has utterly transformed the way we do business. From smarter products and services to better business decisions and optimised (or even automated) business processes, AI has the power to change almost everything. Those businesses that don't capitalise on the transformative power of AI risk being left behind. That's why you need an AI strategy for your business. One question people often ask me is, 'Do I still need a separate AI strategy if I've already got a data strategy'? In my view, yes, you should have both.
National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Announced In United Kingdom - AI Summary
Having recently announced the launch of the new UK Cyber Security Council, the UK government has followed up by announcing its plans to publish a new National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (the AI Strategy) later this year. The aim of the AI Strategy is to build on the United Kingdom's position as a global center for the development, commercialization, and adoption of responsible AI. The UK is already a world leader in this revolutionary technology and the new AI Strategy will help us seize its full potential--from creating new jobs and improving productivity to tackling climate change and delivering better public services." The intention is for the AI Strategy to align with the UK government's overall plans to support jobs and economic growth through increased investment in infrastructure, skills, and innovation. The AI Council published the AI Roadmap in January this year, which set out a number of recommendations to the government on harnessing the power of AI, including recommending the establishment of a nationwide AI strategy. The 7 Most Promising Government Led AI Solutions
As the 21st century rages on, success and failure of nations depends not only on their citizenry and governmental leadership, but heavily on the technological visions that countries embrace. If a nation takes the approach of sitting back or standing still as automation and Artificial Intelligence advance at ever increasing rates, that nation is destined to be left behind. However, if a country embraces AI and dedicates significant resources and top minds to ethical implementation, that country is destined to be a leader for decades to come. Recently Steve Mills, Chief AI Ethics Officer & Leader for Artificial Intelligence in the Public Sector, and Partner at Boston Consulting Group said quite eloquently "AI has become table stages for global national economic and technological competitiveness. This goes beyond nations capturing a piece of the large and rapidly growing AI market. AI is poised to transform nearly every industry. There is an imperative for nations to position themselves to integrate AI into these sectors. Particularly those sectors that are economically important to them. Failing to do so could erode their competitive position, creating opportunities for other, more technologically advanced nations to fill the void. This is not just a matter of missed upside potential from the new AI market. It's also about downside risk for every other sector that is economically important to a nation."

Why international cooperation matters in the development of artificial intelligence strategies
In October, the Forum for Cooperation on Artificial Intelligence (FCAI), a multistakeholder dialogue among high-level government officials and experts from industry, civil society, and academia, released an interim report taking stock of the current landscape for international cooperation on AI and offering recommendations to make further progress. FCAI publicly launched the report as part of Brookings' Global Forum on Democracy and Technology event, Aligning technology governance with democratic values. UK Secretary of State Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Nadine Dorries, praised the "excellent" report as a "helpful step in [the] process" of building international AI collaboration while discussing her government's role in its presidency of the G7 group and its upcoming Future Tech Forum. To discuss the report, Brookings co-authors Cam Kerry and Josh Meltzer, and Andrea Renda of the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) welcomed a panel featuring representatives from the governments of Australia, Canada, and the United States, as well as industry representatives from IBM and Twitter. While the entire event and panel discussion around the report can be found here, for some unfamiliar with the FCAI, this blog will serve as an introduction to the Forum and the new report.
