Artificial intelligence beats us in chess, but not in memory
In the last decades, artificial intelligence has shown to be very good at achieving exceptional goals in several fields. Chess is one of them: in 1996, for the first time, the computer Deep Blue beat a human player, chess champion Garry Kasparov. A new piece of research shows now that the brain strategy for storing memories may lead to imperfect memories, but in turn, allows it to store more memories, and with less hassle than AI. The new study, carried out by SISSA scientists in collaboration with Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience & Centre for Neural Computation, Trondheim, Norway, has just been published in Physical Review Letters. Neural networks, real or artificial, learn by tweaking the connections between neurons.
Artificial Intelligence Beats The Hype With Stunning Growth
It is true in politics, business and investing. Right now, there is no question that the money is headed into artificial intelligence. Gartner, a global IT research and advisory company, surveyed 3,000 CIOs operating in 89 countries in January. The Stamford, Conn., firm found that AI implementations grew 37% during 2018, and 270% over the last four years. This is a trend investors should embrace.

All In: Artificial Intelligence Beats the World's Best Poker Players
The world's best artificial intelligence poker player seems to know exactly when to hold'em and when to fold'em. An artificial-intelligence program known as Libratus has beat the world's absolute best human poker players in a 20-day No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament, defeating four opponents by about $1.77 million in poker chips, according to Pittsburgh's Rivers Casino, where the "Brains vs. Artificial Intelligence" poker tournament was held. At the end of each day, at least one of the human players was beating the AI program. But in the end, it was not enough. "We appreciate their hard work, but unfortunately, the computer won," said Craig Clark, general manager of Rivers Casino.
Artificial Intelligence Beats a Path to E-Commerce
Artificial intelligence (AI) has made its way into many aspects of our lives – even into toys for kids like Anki's Cozmo, which resembles a roboticized Ewok. But as things go, AI isn't just for devices, it's made and continues to make it's way into e-commerce and is out there working to determine what to sell to you, how you shop and ensure you have a good shopping experience. According to Gartner by 2020, 85% of customer interactions will be managed without a human and at the close of 2018, customer digital assistants will recognize customers by face and voice across channels. Investment-wise, in 2014 there were more than 300 million in venture capital invested in AI startups according to Bloomberg. Brands are on board and are using AI to build smarter platforms they hope will create a better online shopping experience for the consumer.
