NATO jets scrambled amid Russia's largest drone attack on Ukraine
President Donald Trump says the U.S. will have to send more weapons to Ukraine, just days after Pentagon paused critical weapons deliveries to Kyiv. NATO jets were scrambled overnight as Russia carried out its largest drone attack yet on Ukraine, launching more than 700 drones, officials said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the "new massive Russian attack on our cities" involved "728 drones of various types, including over 300 Shaheds, and 13 missiles – Kinzhals and Iskanders. "Most of the targets were shot down. Our interceptor drones were used -- dozens of enemy targets were downed, and we are scaling up this technology.

Russian air defenses downed Azerbaijan Airlines flight, sources say
Russian air defenses downed an Azerbaijan Airlines plane that crashed in Kazakhstan, killing 38 people, four sources with knowledge of the preliminary findings of Azerbaijan's investigation into the disaster said on Thursday. Flight J2-8243 crashed on Wednesday in a ball of fire near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan after diverting from an area of southern Russia, where Moscow has repeatedly used air defense systems against Ukrainian drone strikes. The Embraer passenger jet had flown from Azerbaijan's capital Baku to Grozny, in Russia's southern Chechnya region, before veering off hundreds of miles across the Caspian Sea. It crashed on the opposite shore of the Caspian after what Russia's aviation watchdog said was an emergency that may have been caused by a bird strike. Officials did not explain why it had crossed the sea.

Russia's Syria exit could help Ukraine-Israel relationship as analyst warns it 'offers little' to Jerusalem
With the collapse of the Assad regime and Russia's declining influence in Syria, some are saying that an opportunity for a rapprochement between Israel and Ukraine now exists, where it hadn't before. "Israel needs to be more involved in supporting Ukraine," Yuli Edelstein, the chair of Israel's Foreign Affairs and Defense Community and a member of the ruling Likud party, told Fox News Digital. "The situation has changed, it's time for Israel to step up." Edelstein, a leading voice in Israel's defense and foreign policy discussions, said "the enemy of my enemy is my friend," adding, "We see a strategic alliance between the Russians and the Iranians. If before it was the great Russia adopting Iran, now it's important to recognize that the balance of power has changed."

Moscow targeted with largest drone attack of war with Ukraine: Russian officials
Ukraine targeted Moscow on Wednesday in what Russian officials called one of largest drone strikes on the capital since the war began in 2022. All 11 drones heading toward the capital in the Moscow region were destroyed, Russia's Ministry of Defense said. In total, Russia said its air defenses downed 45 Ukrainian drones, including 23 over the Bryansk region, six over Belgorod, three over Kaluga and two over Kursk. "This was one of the biggest attempts of all time to attack Moscow using drones," Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on his Telegram channel, adding that strong air defenses around the capital prevented the drones from striking their intended targets. Some Russian social media channels shared videos of drones apparently being destroyed by air defense systems, which then set off car alarms.

Russian drone, hypersonic missile strikes escalate on Ukrainian air base ahead of arrival of F-16s
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to discuss how NATO members have bolstered their spending, the latest on the war in Ukraine and how the alliance can counter aggression from countries like Russia and China. Explosions reverberated across the pre-dawn sky as Ukrainian air defenses fended off a Russian attack on this small city in western Ukraine, home to an important air base and a frequent target of Moscow's strikes. Hours after the assault, the tidy streets of Starokostiantyniv had returned to a semblance of normality. But the June 27 attack was a stark reminder of the challenges Kyiv faces as it rebuilds its depleted air force and deploys the first U.S.-designed F-16s - fighter aircraft that Russia will be determined to ground or destroy. The first planes are expected to arrive this month, and Ukraine hopes they will boost forces struggling to repel a Russian onslaught along the front line, which includes devastating glide bombs that F-16s could potentially disrupt.

Ukraine Sees 'Hypocrisy' After Western Allies Helped Intercept Iran's Attack on Israel
For people in eastern Ukraine, where nightly barrages of drones from Russia outpace the military's overwhelmed air defenses, the response by Western allies to Iran's aerial assault against Israel this weekend produced uncomfortable comparisons. The militaries of the United States, Britain, France and others stepped in to help Israel defend against the fusillade of more than 300 Iranian drones and missiles, nearly all of which were intercepted. A similar number of aerial weapons are fired at Ukraine on a weekly basis, its officials say, with many of the drones in those attacks designed by Iran and now produced by Russia. Since the start of this year, Russia has fired 1,000 missiles, 2,800 drones and 7,000 guided aerial bombs at Ukraine, according to Ukraine's permanent representative to the United Nations, Sergiy Kyslytsya. While Washington and other allies have provided Kyiv with some powerful air defense weapons, they have not directly confronted Russian forces, and Ukrainian officials have long argued that the supplied weapons are insufficient to counter the threat from Moscow.

Russia launches largest drone attack on Kyiv since start of war, injuring 5
FOX News correspondent Benjamin Hall previews his Special Report interview with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who says now is not the time for a peace deal with Russia. Russia on Saturday morning launched its most intense drone attack on the Ukraine capital of Kyiv since the beginning of its full-scale invasion, leaving five people injured, military officials said. Seventy-five Iranian-made drones were launched into the north-central region, of which at least 70 were destroyed by air defense, Ukraine's air force said. At least five civilians were wounded in the hours-long drone assault, including an 11-year-old child, according to Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko.
