Crossing The Threshold Into The AI Renaissance

#artificialintelligence

GPT Summary: The rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have brought humanity to a critical juncture, similar to the Renaissance of the 14th-17th centuries. AI is experiencing a functional rebirth, with machines surpassing human performance in various cognitive tasks. These developments raise philosophical questions about the nature of human intelligence and our roles in a world where AI is omnipresent. Striking the right balance between innovation and regulation is crucial, as ethical concerns need addressing. By exploring AI's function and philosophical aspects, we can harness its power to enhance our lives, create new opportunities, and unlock the next renaissance in human-machine collaboration.

Artists of the AI Renaissance

#artificialintelligence

AI art is a new emerging art form that often blurs the lines of what defines art. Those who create AI arts will find themselves in a world where they are becoming more and more obsolete every day. The availability of technology, combined with the democratization of machine learning, means it's only a matter of…

What Drove The AI Renaissance?

#artificialintelligence

It is the present-day darling of the tech world. The current renaissance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with its sister discipline Machine Learning (ML) has led every IT firm worth its salt to engineer some form of AI onto its platform, into its toolsets and throughout its software applications. IBM CEO Ginni Rometty has already proclaimed that AI will change 100 percent of jobs over the next decade. And yes, she does mean everybody's job from yours to mine and onward to the role of grain farmers in Egypt, pastry chefs in Paris and dog walkers in Oregon i.e. every job. We will now be able to help direct all workers' actions and behavior with a new degree of intelligence that comes from predictive analytics, all stemming from the AI engines we will now increasingly depend upon.

What Caused the AI Renaissance

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is not a new concept, with its origins dating back to the 1950s. Yet AI has only recently emerged to the forefront of investment interest from industry, government, and venture capital after decades of relative dormancy. What contributed to the thawing of AI's winter and current boom? AI is booming largely due to advancements in pattern recognition capabilities resulting from deep learning--a subset of machine learning where an artificial neural network consists of over two layers of processing. Machine learning is a subset of AI that involves algorithms that are able to learn from data, versus a programmer having to explicitly code instructions.

Looking at the AI Renaissance in Medtech

#artificialintelligence

When I joined MD DI nearly a year ago, I would hear smatterings about artificial intelligence and machine learning in medtech. By mid-February every other pitch I started receiving was AI-related. Conferences started delving into the AI topic. I even participated in a webinar hosted by Dave Saunders, CTO and Co-founder of Galen Robotics. It was clear to me that AI wasn't just a buzzword, or some fancy marketing scribble used to catch a journalist's attention.
