Could AI movies like 'The Matrix' and 'Her' become a reality? Experts weigh in
Veritone CEO Ryan Steelberg says the Writers Guild needs to make sure its writers are protected as AI becomes more popular. While watching a film, viewers might ponder its legitimacy, questioning if what they're seeing on screen can happen in real life. Artificial intelligence is no different. AI is being heavily developed and utilized now to edit and amplify films, but the depths of its use has also been explored in futuristic, science-fiction movies like "The Matrix" or "I, Robot." With the rise of AI platforms, including ChatGPT, AI appears to be infiltrating every industry.

Best Movies About Sentient Artificial Intelligence
Robots are a common factor in many sci-fi movies, as they've always seemed like something a futuristic society would have. Of course, as society progresses, there are some real life robots now, maybe even within your own home. While we may have numerous examples of artificial intelligence nowadays, one thing we still haven't discovered (for better or worse) is making these robots actually sentient, something we still only see in fiction. While this topic remains fictional, there are many movies who like to play with the idea of robots coming to life and gaining their own sentience. There are many different ways to play with the subject too.

What is Artificial Intelligence?
Most of us first get to experience about AI through Sci-Fi movies. You might have watched at least one AI movies from all time favorite AI movies such as Metropolis, Terminator, Blade Runner, Wall-E, Ex-Machine etc. But not like in the movies, AI in real life is not even closer to what we see in them even up to today. So where did it all start in real life? And how did it start?

Artificial Intelligence Movies: Top 10 AI Movies - Datamation
Artificial intelligence (AI) has long been a staple of science fiction, but in recent years, technology has improved to the point where real-world AI systems have become usable. In fact, Markets and Markets predicts that that the worldwide market for AI systems could be worth $16.06 billion by 2022. Interestingly, as AI becomes a bigger part of daily life, it also seems to be playing a bigger role in the entertainment industry. Already this decade, filmmakers have put out at least 30 feature films featuring an A.I. character in a key role. By comparison, our research turned up just 19 notable AI movies from the 2000s, 14 from the 1990s and 10 from the 1980s.

IBM's Watson AI creates trailer for AI movie 'Morgan'
If you haven't heard about it yet, there's a new sci-fi thriller movie coming called Morgan, which focuses on a robot with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) that -- to no surprise -- rebels against its human creators. Appropriately, movie studio 20th Century Fox turned to IBM's Watson, a supercomputer AI capable of analyzing human personalities and emotions, researching cancer, and powering self-driving busses, to create its own version of the film's trailer. While the AI in Morgan quickly learns new abilities to use against human and subsequently goes out of control, IBM researchers first needed to teach Watson about movie trailers. They did this by feeding it over 100 horror movie trailers that were cut into different scenes and moments, and then allowing Watson to perform analyses on aspects such as visuals, sound, and composition in order to understand what makes up a trailer and what viewers find scary. After this, Watson was given the full movie Morgan to dissect, and managed to come up with six minutes of video featuring 10 scenes.

Be afraid. Be very afraid: IBM's Watson makes AI trailer about 'Morgan' AI movie
Experts may reassure us that artificial intelligence won't take over the world anytime soon – but they just might invade the multiplex. At least that's the plot developing at IBM, where the Watson artificial-intelligence team programmed a computer to come up with a scary trailer for "Morgan," a thriller about a genetically modified, AI-enhanced super-human. GeekWire's crack team of movie critics gave "Morgan" an average grade of C – but I have to say Watson's trailer gave me the creeps. Maybe it's the way short cuts are spliced together to create a sense of ominousness without revealing what the heck is going on. Or maybe it's just knowing that a faceless piece of software helped create it.
