Microsoft is holding a 'future of work' AI event on March 16th
Now that Microsoft has outlined how AI will reshape Bing search, it's ready to detail how the technology will influence your workplace. The company is holding a "Future of Work with AI" event on March 16th at 11AM Eastern. While Microsoft isn't saying much about what the news will entail, CEO Satya Nadella and Microsoft 365 lead Jared Spataro are hosting the presentation. As it stands, rumors may give an idea of what to expect. A February leak from The Verge suggested Microsoft may introduce AI-equipped versions of Microsoft 365 apps like Outlook and Word. While the exact functionality isn't known, The Information claims Outlook could use AI to improve search results and suggest email replies.

Microsoft's AI event: Live coverage
Microsoft's set to make an AI-related announcement today at 1pm ET, but it will not be streaming the keynote to the public. Not to worry, though, we're here at the event in Redmond and will be liveblogging all the news the company is sharing today. After Google unveiled its ChatGPT rival Bard yesterday, Microsoft revealed it had been planning today's event all along, without disclosing many details beyond telling us to expect information about "exciting projects." Thanks to a tweet from OpenAI's Sam Altman, though, we can at least guess that generative AI is on the agenda, if not the star of the show. We'll be starting this liveblog around 12:30pm ET, with myself (Cherlynn Low) on text and our head of video Brian Oh taking pictures.

What is Bard, Google's answer to 'ChatGPT': A closer look at the announcement, timing
In a blog post, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai also spoke about how AI-based features would be coming to Google Search as well. It should be noted that so far LaMDA was available in limited testing to select users of the company's AI Test Kitchen app. So what is Bard and why has Google suddenly taken the decision to announce this new technology? Let's take a deeper look at the reasons and timings of this announcement. Bard is based on LaMDA and Google's own conversational AI chatbot.

Elon Musk Unveils $20,000 Optimus Robot at AI Event - ExtremeTech
Musk unveiled Optimus at AI Day 2022 on Friday. "I do want to set some expectations with respect to our Optimus robot," he said. "As you know, last year was just a person in a robot suit. We've come a long way…compared to that, it'll be really impressive." That's a pretty big deal, considering Musk was already quite hopeful about the robot's potential last year. He went on to say that he thinks Optimus could "make a meaningful contribution to AGI," or artificial general intelligence: a type of AI that has the flexibility and problem-solving ability of human cognition.
Elon Musk says 'epic' Tesla robot will be unveiled at AI event
Tesla will unveil a prototype of its Optimus robot in September, Elon Musk has revealed. The Tesla CEO said the company's AI Day would be delayed in order to debut the humanoid robot, which the billionaire has claimed could be "more significant" than the company's electric car business. "Tesla AI Day pushed to Sept 30, as we may have an Optimus prototype working by then," Mr Musk tweeted. "Tesla AI Day 2 will be epic." The Optimus robot was first teased last August at Tesla's inaugural AI event, with Mr Musk saying it would have "profound implications for the economy".

A digital travel assistant who "knows" what you are looking for Imagine a scenario where a travel shopper is able to plan a trip, just the way one ends up following or liking content on Instagram or watching a series on Netflix. You come across travel-related offerings or bundles based on your interest, browsing sessions etc. But how to facilitate such an experience or a trip in a seamless way, for instance, via a platform that is like a #recommender system rather than a typical interface that makes you search for options from A to B. "Airlines without Enterprise AI and emerging data in their plans are planning to fail," said Ricardo Pilon, during Ai's event on retailing optimization. It is time carriers reassess how travellers shop, what are the shortcomings in #travel retailing and how to solve customer queries or come up with recommendations in real-time. Pilon spoke about a concept called "retail marketplace of experiences", toward which he is developing a solution.
