AI cameras are giving DC's air defense a major upgrade
More than 20 years later, the system is getting a makeover. After 9/11, Washington, D.C.'s airspace got a significant security boost. Now, over two decades later, this system is getting a cutting-edge makeover. The National Capital Region (NCR) is rolling out an advanced artificial intelligence-based visual recognition system that's taking air defense to a whole new level. Lagrangian based A* algorithm for automated reasoning
In this paper, a modification of A* algorithm is considered for the shortest path problem. A weightage is introduced in the heuristic part of the A* algorithm to improve its efficiency. An application of the algorithm is considered for UAV path planning wherein velocity is taken as the weigtage to the heuristic. At the outset, calculus of variations based Lagrange's equation was used to identify velocity as the decisive factor for the dynamical system. This approach would be useful for other problems as well to improve the efficiency of algorithms in those areas.

The Morning After: A Japanese restaurant combats 'sushi terrorism' with AI cameras
Many people in Japan have been outraged by a recent trend dubbed "sushi terrorism." Videos across social media show people carrying out all kinds of unhygienic acts, like licking the spoon for a container of green tea powder. Another video, which has more than 98 million views on Twitter, showed a person licking the top of a soy sauce bottle and a teacup's rim before putting them back at a branch of the Sushiro chain. The company said it has replaced all the soy sauce bottles and cleaned every cup at the affected restaurant. To combat this gross trend, one chain, Kura Sushi, said it would use artificial intelligence to look for "suspicious opening and closing of sushi plate covers," Nikkei Asia reported. The company plans to upgrade existing cameras, used to track the dishes customers take from conveyor belts to determine their bill, by early March.

Artificial Intelligence Based Cameras To Be Introduced By Kochi Metro
Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) will implement a system for passenger profiling that will be supported by artificial intelligence (AI) as part of its project to improve the transportation experience. A data analytics platform is being developed jointly by Kochi Metro and Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology. By deploying AI cameras at the stations, all metro users will be profiled based on gender and age. AI cameras would also be used for general monitoring, including identifying lost luggage and determining the number of people arriving. According to KMRL managing director Loknath Behera's statement to Times Of India, specialized AI cameras will be placed at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates.

Now Amazon to put 'creepy' AI cameras in UK delivery vans
Amazon is reportedly installing AI-powered cameras in delivery vans to keep tabs on its drivers in the UK. The technology was first deployed, with numerous errors that reportedly denied drivers' bonuses after malfunctions, in the US. Last year, the internet giant produced a corporate video detailing how the cameras monitor drivers' driving behavior for safety reasons. The same system is now apparently being rolled out to vehicles in the UK. Multiple camera lenses are placed under the front mirror.

AI Cameras: Can They Replace IoT Sensors?
Okay, maybe we're being a little misleading; by AI cameras, we actually mean computer vision. The recent progress in imagery analysis powered by artificial intelligence makes us wonder if the camera could in fact replace several types of sensors. For numerous use cases, it makes the hardware far easier to manage and provides more insightful data. Visual intelligence has much more to offer than the human eye. It can observe hundreds of places at the same time, zoom down to a submillimeter scale, see in infrared, and much more.
Camera Everywhere AI Intelligence, Market Trends And Smarter AI Hold Much Promise
This article discusses the global AI camera market, explores different camera use cases, highlights the innovations in the logistics and transportation industry, and includes recent interview highlights from, Chris Piche, CEO of Smarter AI, a company that has a compelling product platform and ecosystem community vision beyond many of the market incumbent players. In a nutshell, in my late December, 2021 interview with Chris Piche, CEO of Smarter AI, he described his company as "the leader in AI cameras and enablement software. Smarter AI software-defined cameras program AI-like apps on a phone and are supported by AI Store, our ecosystem of AI models and developers, to scale AI camera use cases." The Las Vegas company, with offices in Singapore and in Dubai, has recently secured its Series A financing of over $30M to advance its scale-up enablement needs, and from all early signals, Smarter AI is heading in the right direction. The global smarter camera market, according to BlueWeave Consulting, the market was worth USD $7.4 billion in 2020 and is further projected to reach USD $33.3 billion by the year 2027, growing at a CAGR of 24.0% in the forecast period.
