Roborock Saros Z70 review: If you think you need the robot vacuum with an arm, no you dont

Mashable

There has been one pressing question about the Roborock Saros Z70 since it was announced at CES 2025: Could a robot vacuum with a robotic arm possibly be a practical purchase for a normal person? The Saros Z70 takes the "robot" in robot vacuum to a whole new level. Past referring to the brains of the automated cleaning operation, "robot" also refers to a whole ass robotic arm that unfolds from the vacuum to move pesky obstacles out of the way. This is cool in theory for anyone whose home has random stuff lying around on the floor at any given time, but the practicality bubble is quickly burst when you realize that the Saros Z70 costs 2,599. That's a full 1,000 more than Roborock's other two CES flagship releases, the Saros 10 and 10R, that I also happen to have at home right now. Multiple friends who have come over recently have literally laughed in my face when I told them that one of those three costs 2,599.

The company is expected to drop its biggest I/O news and announcements during these presentations. If you're not attending I/O in person, here's how you can watch both keynotes live from the comfort of your own couch.

Im a college writing professor. Heres what AI still cant do

Mashable

In the past few years, AI has wreaked havoc on the education sector. It's quickly become a multi-billion dollar industry, hailed by some administrators as the future of learning while other faculty scramble to address the fallout, including the rampant cheating that AI chatbots enabled almost overnight. It has felt particularly threatening to the subject I teach--writing--where many students struggle, and the temptation to turn to AI is irresistible. But paradoxically, the AI invasion hasn't convinced me that learning to write well is about to become obsolete. I recognize in many of my students the impulse that led me to become a writer: the human need to express oneself and, in so doing, to relate to others.

Im a professional video editor and filmmaker. My take on how tech and creativity intersect

Mashable

I've worked in the entertainment industry for over 20 years, and have seen firsthand how technological advances in equipment, software, and AI can impact the creative process. Throughout my career, I've been behind the camera, in the edit bay, and in writers' rooms. I've seen how this industry works and how it's always changing, often because of technology. When I went to NYU for film school, I experienced firsthand how deeply tech is intertwined with the creative process. I learned to edit 16mm film on a Steenbeck, then later edited tape-to-tape on a VCR (might be aging myself with those references).
