I tried Google's XR headset, and it already beats the Apple Vision Pro in 3 ways
Putting on Project Moohan, an upcoming XR headset developed by Google, Samsung, and Qualcomm, for the first time felt strangely familiar. From twisting the head-strap knob on the back to slipping the standalone battery pack into my pants pocket, my mind was transported back to February 2024, when I tried on the Apple Vision Pro on launch day. Also: The best smart glasses unveiled at I/O 2025 weren't made by Google Only this time, the headset was powered by Android XR, Google's newest operating system built around Gemini, the same AI model that dominated the Google I/O headlines this week. The difference in software was immediately noticeable -- from the home grid of Google apps like Photos, Maps, and YouTube (which VisionOS still lacks) to prompting for Gemini instead of Siri with a long press of the headset's multifunctional key. While my demo with Project Moohan lasted only about 10 minutes, it gave me a clear understanding of how it's challenging Apple's Vision Pro and how Google, Samsung, and Qualcomm plan to convince the masses that the future of spatial computing does, in fact, live in a bulkier space-helmet-like device. For starters, there's no denying that the industrial designers of Project Moohan drew some inspiration from the Apple Vision Pro.

Samsung Odyssey G81SF OLED Gaming Monitor Review: Gorgeous
Let's cut to the chase--Samsung's latest QD-OLED computer monitor is absolutely awesome, and I've loved having it at my desk for the past month or so. Every game I play on it looks incredible, and it has quickly become the centerpiece of my battle station. Even so, I'm still having trouble recommending 4K high-refresh monitors to people who have to buy and build their own systems. Having a monitor with some room to grow is the right choice, but the gap between performance and capability can be frustrating if you're on otherwise budget-friendly hardware. If you're thinking of making an upgrade, really nice 1440p screens are available for under 400, and they might be a better performance fit for most people.
Are entangled qubits following a quantum Moore's law?
The number of qubits that have been entangled in quantum computers has nearly doubled within the past year – the increase is happening so fast, it seems to be following a "quantum Moore's law". First proposed by Gordon Moore at Intel in 1965, Moore's law states that the power we can get out of a single traditional computer chip doubles at regular intervals; every year at first, then every two years as manufacturing encountered…
I tested Motorola's 1,300 Razr Ultra, and it made my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip feel outdated
You have my attention, Motorola. The company yesterday unveiled not one, not two, but three Razr flip phones, including a first-ever'Ultra' model that's feature-packed, fashionably styled, and unsurprisingly expensive at 1,299. I spent an intimate afternoon with all three models ahead of their launch, and, barring the price tag that makes me question the state of the economy, my first impressions were mostly positive. In fact, the Razr Ultra, which I tested the most, left me feeling a little less excited about what's on the docket from Samsung later this summer. Google pays Samsung an 'enormous' amount of money to pre-install Gemini on phones
Google has been paying Samsung tons of cash every month to pre-install the AI app Gemini on its smartphones, according to a report by Bloomberg . This information comes to us as part of a pre-existing antitrust case against Google. Peter Fitzgerald, Google's VP of platforms and device partnerships, testified in federal court that it began paying Samsung for this service back in January. The pair of companies have a contract that's set to run at least two years. Fitzgerald told Judge Amit Metha, who is overseeing the case, that Google provides Samsung with both fixed monthly payments and a percentage of revenue earned from advertisers within the Gemini app.
The Thinking Machine: Jensen Huang, Nvidia and the World's Most Coveted microchip – review
This is the latest confirmation that the "great man" theory of history continues to thrive in Silicon Valley. As such, it joins a genre that includes Walter Isaacson's twin tomes on Steve Jobs and Elon Musk, Brad Stone's book on Jeff Bezos, Michael Becraft's on Bill Gates, Max Chafkin's on Peter Thiel and Michael Lewis's on Sam Bankman-Fried. Notable characteristics of the genre include a tendency towards founder worship, discreet hagiography and a Whiggish interpretation of the life under examination. The great man under Witt's microscope is the co-founder and chief executive of Nvidia, a chip design company that went from being a small but plucky purveyor of graphics processing units (GPUs) for computer gaming to its current position as the third most valuable company in the world. Two things drove this astonishing transition.
