Microsoft created a teen chatbot named Tay to learn how millennials talk

Mashable

Microsoft just introduced its latest A.I experiment and it's bizarre. It's called Tay and it's an experimental chatbot meant to embody the personality of a teenage girl. Microsoft launched Tay on Kik, GroupMe and Twitter on Wednesday with the goal of learning how millennials speak. Once you've connected with Tay on one of those platforms, you can exchange silly messages, selfies and even play a few games. Though Microsoft says its main goal is to "engage and entertain," Microsoft's Research team is also hoping to use Tay to better understand how people communicate.

But as I try to figure out exactly where I am, I'm told Apple is ready to pull the sheets off something that's been more than three years in the making. Something that, Apple believes, has never been done, or seen, before. As we walk toward the warehouse, the doors automatically lift from above. Inside, boxes crowd the space.

Russian aviation officials say it's going to be very difficult to extract data from the black boxes of the FlyDubai flight that crashed in southern Russia because they're so badly damaged. The Boeing 737-800 from Dubai nosedived and exploded in a giant fireball short of the Rostov-on-Don airport runway at 3:42 a.m. Closed-circuit TV footage showed the plane going down at a steep angle and exploding upon impact. The crash scattered debris and left a large crater in the runway. The plane was trying to land for a second time in poor weather.

This drone hides underwater then takes to the skies to execute its mission

Mashable

We've seen experimental drones that rule that skies with speed and even mounted weapons, but a new flying drone prototype has emerged that will lie in wait for you somewhere new: under the sea. A team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory designed the CRACUNS (Corrosion Resistant Aerial Covert Unmanned Nautical System) drone to withstand both underwater pressure and the corrosive effects of salt water. See also: Pentagon confirms it has used spy drones in U.S. air space Based on a series of tests performed by the team, CRACUNS can remain submerged at a depth of several hundred feet for at least two months and then emerge from the water and elevate itself into the air using four rotor blades. To accomplish the feat, the drone researchers housed the device's components in a dry pressure vessel and coated its motors in unnamed, commercially available coatings. The CRACUNS drone is at home under water or in the air.
