Founders of the Future is a new venture that hopes to uncover the Mark Zuckerbergs of the future, using algorithms. Mr Bowles, a machine learning expert, developed the software, which models the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs like Niklas Zennstrom, who set up Skype, and Natalie Massenet, who started Net-a-Porter.

Robots are very fascinating entities, and they have always been one of the foremost subjects of science fiction. The very name robot originated in science fiction writing, although one could argue that the notion of autonomous mechanical artifacts has a very long tradition that predates science fiction. The golden age of robots in science fiction was probably a few decades ago. Unfortunately as the developments in robotics have lagged well behind of what the sci-fi writers had made us to expect, the interest in robots has somewhat cooled off. However, the first low-scale commercial robots are finally making their mark, and the robotic parts are well within the reach of most casual hobbyists and enthusiasts.

Photos of space are everywhere online. Their beauty is dazzling, showing a universe awash in color and light. But if you're a skeptic, you've likely wondered whether it all truly looks like that in real life. Michael Benson tries his best to show you in his exhibition Otherworlds: Visions of Our Solar System. The artist took data from NASA and ESA missions to make 77 images of everything from Pluto to Europa that approximate true color as much as humanly possible. The work spans five decades of space exploration, and presents a realistic, flyby tour of the universe.
Boeing's Monstrous Underwater Robot Can Wander the Ocean for 6 Months
As far as locales go, the bottom of the ocean is a particularly exasperating place to explore. Anyone or anything you send down there has to contend with the dark, with thousands of pounds of pressure on every square inch, with the inability to replenish fuel supplies without returning to the mother ship. In recent years, unmanned undersea vehicles (UUVs) have improved the situation, eliminating the need to send a human down below, or to attach an unmanned vessel to a surface ship with a long umbilical cord. Those include Boeing's Echo Ranger and Echo Seeker underwater robots, which can spend a few days at at time below the surface, with ranges measured in the tens or hundreds of miles. Those UUV's are "nothing more than an extension, or an application of the surface ship," says Lance Towers, who carries the impressively potent title of director of sea and land at Phantom Works, Boeing's R&D arm.
Are computers CONSCIOUS?
Despite the various, and staggering, leaps made by computer scientists, critics argue that machines will never truly match humans until they gain consciousness. Considered a uniquely human trait, consciousness includes being sentient and self-aware, as well as aware of your surroundings. However, many scientists argue animals are as conscious as humans, and the theory of Phi could one day be used to determine if droids are capable of showing such behaviour. Matthew Davidson, PhD Candidate in the neuroscience of consciousness at Monash University has explained what the Phi theory is, and why it is significant, in an article for The Conversation. K Means Clustering - Effect of random seed
When the k-means clustering algorithm runs, it uses a randomly generated seed to determine the starting centroids of the clusters. However, if the data is evenly distributed, then we might end up with different cluster members based on the initial random variable. An example for such a behavior is shown. R is used for the experiment. The code to load the data and the contents of the data are as follows. We try to group the samples based on two feature variables - age and bmi.

Some of what's in the video is more about restoring lost mobility than improving what you already have. The Self-Reliance Support Robot helps the elderly move from bed to other tasks, like going to the restroom. Resyone, meanwhile, transforms from a bed into a reclining wheelchair. These machines still tend to be expensive and limited (Assist Suit lasts for a maximum 8 hours, for example), so you probably won't see them very often in warehouses or retirement homes. Having said this, the sheer range of devices suggests that they could be widespread before too long.
Dara O Briain to host gaming show 'Go 8 Bit' on Dave
Go 8 Bit is based on a live show in Edinburgh that shares the same name. These will range from nostalgic arcade classics (think Pong, Pac-Man and Street Fighter II) to modern masterpieces like Grand Theft Auto V. In addition, Dave is teasing "larger-than-life game-inspired physical challenges," no doubt imitating other game shows like A Question of Sport in the UK. The team captains will be Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon, a pair of comedians with a genuine passion for video games. They created and performed the original concept in Scotland, and will be partnered with a celebrity guest in each of the new episodes.
