A few minutes ago I had this short "conversation" with GPT-3 AI. I will wait for GPT-4 to have its view on the final question below... How do you feel when you compare with GPT4? I feel humbled when I compare myself to GPT-4. Although I may have a good grasp of language and knowledge, GPT-4 is a powerful tool that can process large amounts of data and generate meaningful output that surpasses by far my own capabilities. How significantly is GPT4 better than you?

Deep-structured learning is used by the language model Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3 (GPT-3) to predict text that resembles that of a human. The third-generation language prediction model in the GPT-n series, GPT-3, was developed by San Francisco-based artificial intelligence research company OpenAI. Over 300 applications are distributing GPT-3-powered search, conversation, text completion, and other advanced AI features over OpenAI's API, the company claims. Data scientists might believe that GPT-3 represents the direction of AI and that it has opened up new opportunities. But GPT-3's perception of reality is usually flawed, making it difficult for people to entirely believe anything it says.

I am writing in response to Douglas Rooks' op-ed piece about the limits of computers and artificial intelligence ("A prescription for the new year," Dec. 29). While I agree with Rooks more often than not, on this topic, he is way out of his league. He claims to have read up on Artificial Intelligence and dismisses the use of the term intelligence to apply to computers -- with very little supporting evidence. So, let me provide some. AI is buzzing again thanks to the recent release of ChatGPT, a natural language chatbot that people are using to write emails, poems, song lyrics and college essays. Early adopters have even used it to write Python code, as well as to reverse engineer shellcode and rewrite it in C. ChatGPT has sparked hope among people eager for the arrival of practical applications of AI, but it also begs the question of whether it will displace writers and developers in the same way robots and computers have replaced some cashiers, assembly-line workers and, perhaps in the future, taxi drivers. It's hard to say how sophisticated the AI text-creation capabilities will be in the future as the technology ingests more and more examples of our online writing. But I see it having very limited capabilities for programming. If anything, it could end up being just another tool in the developer's kit to handle tasks that don't take the critical thinking skills software engineers bring to the table.

The education community has been abuzz with the rise of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence tool that can write anything with just a simple prompt. Most of the conversation has been centered on the extent to which students will use the chat bot--but ChatGPT could also fundamentally change the nature of teachers' jobs. So far, teachers have used--or considered using--the chat bot to plan lessons, put together rubrics, offer students feedback on assignments, respond to parent emails, and write letters of recommendation, among other tasks. While some educators worry about the implications of automating these parts of teaching, others say that the tool can save them hours of work, freeing up time for student interactions or their personal life. After all, a typical teacher works about 54 hours a week, but just under half of that time is devoted to directly teaching students, according to a nationally representative survey of teachers conducted by the EdWeek Research Center last year. Just under a third of teachers said if they could spend less time on any one task, it would be general administrative work.

ChatGPT is catching the world by storm! My friends are constantly sending me examples of the fantastic and unexpected things that ChatGPT has done. ChatGPT reached over a million users in just five days. I am not surprised at how good ChatGPT has become. But I am amazed at the incredible growth of the awareness of these tools in the last two months. And that has encouraged me to help everyone understand how ChatGPT and large language models will impact your overall knowledge strategy and your ability to build cognitive assistants for all your knowledge workers.
