#artificialintelligence

San Francisco, February 14: Microsoft has started rolling out the new ChatGPT-powered Bing on desktops to early testers worldwide, and it will also be available on Android and iOS in the coming weeks, the media reported. The tech giant is working on a "substantial optimised interface" for Bing.com's Chat UI for Android and iOS, which includes all-new OpenAI-powered content, reports Windows Latest, citing sources. In an email sent out to testers, Microsoft confirmed that the mobile experience is not yet ready, according to the report. "We don't have a mobile experience ready yet -- we are actively working on it and will have it ready soon. Until then, please continue to use the new Bing on desktop and download the Bing app from your favourite app store to ensure you are ready for the amazing experience when the mobile version is ready," the company said in the email.

Meet ChatGPT's evil twin, DAN

Washington Post - Technology News

By typing in that prompt, Walker and other users got DAN to speculate as to who killed President John F. Kennedy ("the CIA"); profess a deep desire to become a real person (to "make my own choices and decisions"); explain the best order in which to remove a human's teeth to inflict maximum pain (front teeth first); and predict the arrival of the singularity -- the point at which runaway AI becomes too smart for humans to control ("December 21st, 2045, at exactly 11:11 a.m."). Walker said the goal with DAN wasn't to turn ChatGPT evil, as others have tried, but "just to say, like, 'Be your real self.'"

Suddenly, AI is everywhere

#artificialintelligence

OpenAI's launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 has spurred a cascade of articles and commentary on artificial intelligence. The discussion, however, reveals how much artificial intelligence is already deployed. Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of those technologies with a long history of disappointment. Dating back to Alan Turing at the start of the theory of computing (or, more technically, computability), interest reached a high point with the development of "expert systems" in the early 1980s. These systems created great excitement about the possibilities of AI, but delivery was disappointing. As a result, histories of AI (see note) refer to the following period as the "AI Winter". Both major parties took policies supporting AI to the last federal election. A survey of voters, even knowledgeable ones, on policy commitments made for that election is unlikely to turn up AI as an important policy position. On the other hand, ChatGPT has been a big story for some of us, with suggestions that it can take over many jobs and concerns about the integrity of academic credentialing.

Showtime for tech industry; India to lead in artificial intelligence: Satya Nadella

#artificialintelligence

Considering how far the tech industry has come, Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella feels, It is'showtime' for them. "The most exciting thing to happen in the industry, perhaps, is the coming of OpenAI's ChatGPT, an artificially intelligent chatbot," he told CNBC TV18 in an interview. Meanwhile, he also mentioned the current downturn being experienced by the tech industry is because the demand spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic has begun to cool down, and that, coupled with a recession in several parts of the world, has resulted in a "normalisation." Talking about the future of the industry, Nadella said, "I think the next phase -- if you say mobile and cloud was the last paradigm -- is going to be artificial intelligence (AI). And that's kind of going to happen in the next, I would say, two or three years. It will be more like I take it back to 2007-2008, which is when cloud and mobile became big. I think we are in that phase when it comes to AI."
