Why ChatGPT Is Not A Replacement For Enterprise Conversational AI Platforms

#artificialintelligence

While ChatGPT and conversational AI platforms share some similarities, they are designed to serve different purposes and are not directly interchangeable. Conversational AI platforms construct and deploy chatbots and virtual assistants that allow users to interact with them through natural language conversations in order to provide a solution. These platforms typically include a range of tools and features that are necessary for any virtual assistant to function effectively from building, designing and deploying a bot to including bot life cycle management, natural language processing (NLP) algorithms, machine learning models, and enterprise integrations.

Sharing Google's Med-PaLM 2 medical large language model, or LLM

#artificialintelligence

While we'll have some innovations like Med-PaLM 2 that are tuned for healthcare, we also have products that are relevant across industries. Last month, we announced several generative AI capabilities coming to Google Cloud, including Generative AI support in Vertex AI and Generative AI App Builder, which are already being tested by a number of customers. Developers and businesses already use Vertex AI to build and deploy machine learning models and AI applications at scale, and we recently added Generative AI support in Vertex AI. This gives customers foundation models they can fine-tune with their own data, and the ability to deploy applications with this powerful new technology. We also launched Generative AI App Builder to help organizations build their own AI-powered chat interfaces and digital assistants in minutes or hours by connecting conversational AI flows with out-of-the-box search experiences and foundation models.

Could AI ever truly "understand"?

#artificialintelligence

ChatGPT knows how to use the word "tickle" in a sentence but it cannot feel the sensation. Can it then be said to understand the meaning of the word tickle the same way we humans do? In an ongoing debate, AI researchers are teasing apart whether large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and Google's PaLM understand language in any humanlike sense. The relationship between embodiment and understanding is one question, along with the nature of intelligence and understanding. Should concepts of meaning, understanding, and intelligence be revisited to create a distinction between how humans and machines understand the world?

Banks need to do more to ensure responsible AI use

#artificialintelligence

The hype around artificial intelligence (AI) has skyrocketed since the launch of ChatGPT, the chatbot from OpenAI. In just two months, ChatGPT was estimated to have reached 100 million monthly active users, with wide-ranging use cases including writing essays, debugging code and composing music. Such a leap in functionality and adoption prompted leading lights in the technology industry to call for a'pause' in the development of powerful AI systems. On March 22, the non-profit organisation Future of Life Institute published an open letter urging AI research facilities to put a stop to the creation of systems that can match human intelligence. More than 50,000 industry figures -- including CEO of SpaceX, Tesla and Twitter Elon Musk; Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak; and Chris Larsen, co-founder of Ripple -- have added their signatures to halt the training of models larger than GPT-4, the newest version of OpenAI's language model system.

'Overemployed' Hustlers Exploit ChatGPT To Take On Even More Full-Time Jobs

#artificialintelligence

The members of the overemployed community know that what they're doing is frowned on by corporate leaders. But that doesn't mean they think what they are doing is amoral. "I never could mentally comprehend why it was so taboo for me to work two salaried positions," said the Ohio-based technology worker. "There's plenty of people I've known in my personal life who have worked at Walmart from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m., and then gone and worked another job." The financial professional similarly said he started working multiple jobs because he doesn't trust that working as hard as he can at a single job will be "rewarded with more pay," just "more work." By taking on more jobs, he can do more work but also "get paid for it," he said.

What Kind of Mind Does ChatGPT Have?

The New Yorker

This past November, soon after OpenAI released ChatGPT, a software developer named Thomas Ptacek asked it to provide instructions for removing a peanut-butter sandwich from a VCR, written in the style of the King James Bible. ChatGPT rose to the occasion, generating six pitch-perfect paragraphs: "And he cried out to the Lord, saying, 'Oh Lord, how can I remove this sandwich from my VCR, for it is stuck fast and will not budge?' " Ptacek posted a screenshot of the exchange on Twitter. "I simply cannot be cynical about a technology that can accomplish this," he concluded. The nearly eighty thousand Twitter users who liked his interaction seemed to agree. A few days later, OpenAI announced that more than a million people had signed up to experiment with ChatGPT.

OpenAI Is Working On A Humanoid Robot And It's Time To Start Getting Terrified

#artificialintelligence

OpenAI is developing a humanoid robot with Norwegian robotics company, 1X. The year is 2023, and technological advancements have finally brought us into Terminator territory! At least we think so after catching wind of OpenAI's efforts to build a humanoid robot worker using artificial intelligence, according to Futurism. Though full details of the project have yet to emerge, what we do know is that OpenAI has invested in Norwegian robotics company, 1X, and the end goal is to use artificial intelligence to create bipedal robot workers. In an effort to "thoughtfully integrate emerging technology into people's daily lives," OpenAI's collaboration with 1X $23.5 million worth of funding into 1X.
