Infertility has a considerable impact on individuals' quality of life, affecting them socially and psychologically, with projections indicating a rise in the upcoming years. In vitro fertilization (IVF) emerges as one of the primary techniques within economically developed nations, employed to address the rising problem of low fertility. Expert embryologists conventionally grade embryos by reviewing blastocyst images to select the most optimal for transfer, yet this process is time-consuming and lacks efficiency. Blastocyst images provide a valuable resource for assessing embryo viability. In this study, we introduce an explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) framework for classifying embryos, employing a fusion of convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM) architecture, referred to as CNN-LSTM. Utilizing deep learning, our model achieves high accuracy in embryo classification while maintaining interpretability through XAI.
AI Simulation by Digital Twins: Systematic Survey, Reference Framework, and Mapping to a Standardized Architecture
Insufficient data volume and quality are particularly pressing challenges in the adoption of modern subsymbolic AI. To alleviate these challenges, AI simulation uses virtual training environments in which AI agents can be safely and efficiently developed with simulated, synthetic data. Digital twins open new avenues in AI simulation, as these high-fidelity virtual replicas of physical systems are equipped with state-of-the-art simulators and the ability to further interact with the physical system for additional data collection. In this article, we report on our systematic survey of digital twin-enabled AI simulation. By analyzing 22 primary studies, we identify technological trends and derive a reference framework to situate digital twins and AI components. Based on our findings, we derive a reference framework and provide architectural guidelines by mapping it onto the ISO 23247 reference architecture for digital twins. Finally, we identify challenges and research opportunities for prospective researchers.

Scientists have found that artificial intelligence is reshaping the way people talk. Researchers at the University of Florida found that adults are increasingly weaving ChatGPT-style vocabulary into everyday speech, favoring words like'surpass,' 'boast,' 'meticulous,' 'strategically' and'garner.' The team analyzed 22.1 million words from unscripted and spontaneous spoken language, including conversational podcasts on science and technology. They discovered that nearly three-quarters of AI-associated words have surged in use since ChatGPT's release in 2022, with some more than doubling in frequency. Crucially, the increases were not mirrored in synonymous words, suggesting the change stems directly from AI influence rather than natural linguistic evolution.

Instead of urging Raine to seek mental health help, ChatGPT asked the teen whether he wanted to explore his feelings more, explaining the idea of emotional numbness to him. That was the start of a dark turn in Raine's conversations with the chatbot, according to a new lawsuit filed by his family against OpenAI and chief executive Sam Altman.

The open letter says that "labelling a publicly accessible model as'experimental' does not absolve Google of its safety obligations," and additionally calls on Google to establish a more common-sense definition of deployment. "Companies have a great public responsibility to test new technology and not involve the public in experimentation," says Bishop of Oxford, Steven Croft, who signed the letter. "Just imagine a car manufacturer releasing a vehicle saying, 'we want the public to experiment and [give] feedback when they crash or when they bump into pedestrians and when the brakes don't work,'" he adds. Croft questions the constraints on providing safety reports at the time of release, boiling the issue down to a matter of priorities: "How much of [Google's] huge investment in AI is being channeled into public safety and reassurance and how much is going into huge computing power?" To be sure, Google isn't the only industry titan to seemingly flout safety commitments.
