With the boom in AI affecting virtually every industry, there has been an explosion in the research and development of machine learning, a subfield of AI. And, perhaps, no company better illustrates what machine learning is capable of than Google's DeepMind. Founded in London in 2010 by Demis Hassabis, Shane Legg, and Mustafa Suleyman, DeepMind has developed machine learning systems that uses deep neural networks, reinforcement learning, and systems neuroscience-inspired models. The startup was purchased in January 2014 by Google for a rreported 400 million, with Hassabis remaining CEO of DeepMind. Instead of relying on explicit programming, DeepMind applies general-purpose learning algorithms to a large data set in order to "train" the system and make predictions.

If you passed high school math and can hack around in Python, I want to teach you Deep Learning. Well folks, I've decided to write a Deep Learning book in the same style as my blog, teaching Deep Learning from an intuitive perspective, all in Python, using only numpy. I wanted to make the lowest possible barrier to entry to learn Deep Learning. The Problem with most entry level Deep Learning resources these days is that they either assume advanced knowledge of Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and perhaps even Convex Optimization, or they just teach a "black box" framework like Torch, Keras, or TensorFlow (where you just hit "train" but you don't actually know what's going on under the hood). Both have their appropriate audience, but I don't believe that either are appropriate for your average python hacker looking for a 101 on the fundamentals.

However, the project follows a similar idea from Microsoft โ which has to pull its learning chatbot after it began posting racist and offensive messages after just hours. OpenAI will feed popular Reddit threads to algorithms that have a probabilistic understanding of dialogue with the hopes it will one day hold a conversation itself. By feeding Reddit threads to DGX-1, it will hopefully read and learn a range of conversations faster than any other system has done before it, as conversations are filled with natural human language and commonly used slang.
