Nikhil Buduma A Deep Dive into Recurrent Neural Nets
Last time, we talked about the traditional feed-forward neural net and concepts that form the basis of deep learning. These ideas are extremely powerful! We saw how feed-forward convolutional neural networks have set records on many difficult tasks including handwritten digit recognition and object classification. And even today, feed-forward neural networks consistently outperform virtually all other approaches to solving classification tasks. And yet, despite their well celebrated successes, most experts would agree that feed-forward neural nets are still rather limited in what they can achieve.

Fast.ai: What I Learned from Lessons 1โ3 โ Hacker Noon
Lessons 2 and 3 link to other content to read. Stanford's CS231n Convolutional Neural Networks for Visual Recognition Neural Networks Part 1 lecture has a lot of interesting ideas. Chapter 3 of Neural Networks and Deep Learning textbook has interesting insights into the history of the development of cost functions. If you use a mean squared error cost function with a sigmoid activation function in the output layer then the gradient of the cost function w.r.t. This derivative gets very low values in case the input of the sigmoid function is far from 0. It leads to slower learning because gradient descent will make small updates to weights in this case.
Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence 101 For Executives
AI will continue to uncover data for all of the organizations that add machine-learning platforms. There have been many "ages" throughout human history, most notably the industrial age and the digital age. Now, we have officially entered the age of artificial intelligence (AI). Within this AI age are many technologies, including machine learning and deep learning. These are fundamentally transforming and altering the business landscape.
NVIDIA Jetson Developer Challenge Challenge Rocket
NVIDIA is challenging you to show us how you can transform robotics, industrial IoT, healthcare, security, or any other industry with a powerful AI solution built on the NVIDIA Jetson platform. You'll not only get the chance to win amazing prizes, but also a trip to present your project to CEOs, executives, and industry peers at the world's biggest event for GPU innovation and Artificial Intelligence (AI)--the GPU Technology Conference (GTC). Check out the "Prizes" section for details. AI is empowering the world's brightest minds to create amazing breakthroughs in a wide range of industries. Today, NVIDIA GPUs simulate human intelligence, run deep learning algorithms, and act as the brains of computers, robots, and self-driving cars.
Fast Track Business Outcomes from Artificial Intelligence with Proven Methods and Accelerators - Data Points
Deep learning, chat bots, smart machines, natural language processing, neural networks -- these buzzwords continue to create much excitement, hype and urgency among business leaders, as they deliberate on how and when to invest in artificial intelligence (AI) to transform the way their companies can leverage data to improve business outcomes and gain competitive advantage. Working with innovative, early adopters of enterprise AI, Teradata has helped clients realize significant and high-impact business outcomes, such as fraud detection, manufacturing performance optimization, risk modeling, precise recommendation engines and more. Teradata's clients are demonstrating that deep learning algorithms are significantly outperforming most rules-based and machine learning approaches, and, in other cases, deep learning is solving previously intractable problems. However, the reality for most large enterprises is that building AI solutions on their own that address their unique opportunities is not feasible. Challenges abound, from needing to establish an AI strategy that cohesively brings together processes and culture, to solving technical challenges, such as working with a variety of open-source projects, specialized hardware and fragmented data sets to operationalizing and supporting autonomous decisions.
Workshops Basia Fusiลska about IT
The workshop will walk the attendees through the Machine Learning process, how to build one in Azure ML Studio and publish the predictive experiment. With the enhancement of the R and Python code, participants will have the opportunity to customise the flow. Finally, the session will provide the ways of productionising the built solution by publishing it to Azure.
Microsoft and Amazon have partnered to bring AI to the masses
Artificial intelligence (AI) has become the center of today's biggest tech companies, including Google, Microsoft and Amazon, as well as social-networking giant Facebook, and even Apple. When these companies talk about AI, they're mostly referring to developing and perfecting deep learning systems that power a number of their products and services. Training machine learning algorithms can be tedious -- requiring tons of data sets -- and involves highly specialized tools. Which is why, rivals Amazon and Microsoft have recently teamed up for better research on cloud services and, to make AI available to more developers. On Thursday, they unveiled a new open-source deep-learning interface called Gluon.
