Generative AI
OpenAI's revolutionary chatbot 'ChatGPT' (everything you need to know); Meta using AI face scanning to verify users' age; 7 AI predictions for 2023
The whole internet is blown up by ChatGPT, but what is it? ChatGPT is a powerful artificial intelligence tool that can generate human-like text. It uses state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) technology to understand and respond to human input. With ChatGPT, you can create engaging and realistic conversations with chatbots and other conversational systems. This opens up exciting possibilities for personalized and dynamic interactions with your audience.
Lensa AI is Using Your Photos to Train Their AI To Make Better Selfies – ARTnews.com
Photo editing app Lensa grew massively popular over the last week as social media has become flooded with people posting AI-generated selfies from the app's latest feature. For $3.99, Lensa users can upload 10-20 images of themselves and then receive 50 selfies generated by the app's artificial intelligence in a variety of art styles. But, before you slam the purchase button, a word of warning: Lensa's privacy policy and terms of use stipulate that the images users submit to generate their selfies, or rather the "Face Data," can be used by Prisma AI, the company behind Lensa, to further train the AI's neural network. An artificial neural network like the one used by Lensa, or the popular text-to-image generator Dall-E 2, studies vast quantitites of data to learn how to create better and better results. To be able to convert simple sentences into surprisingly well-crafted images, Dall-E 2 was trained on hundreds of millions of images to learn the association between different words and different visual characteristics.
ChatGPT shrugged • TechCrunch
ChatGPT is a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool that's designed to help people communicate with computers in a more natural and intuitive way -- using natural language processing (NLP) technology. But what's behind the development of ChatGPT and how can the tech be used to help humanity? That rather bland lede, which we've slightly edited, was generated by OpenAI's ChatGPT in response to a prompt by this (human) reporter. TechCrunch kicked off a conversation with the large language model by asking it to explain its function and purpose. We wanted to see if we could use the chatbot-style Q&A format it's most recently been embedded into to probe the tech and get AI to articulate some of its limitations.
AI bot ChatGPT stuns academics with essay-writing skills
Professors, programmers and journalists could all be out of a job in just a few years, after the latest chatbot from the Elon Musk-founded OpenAI foundation stunned onlookers with its writing ability, proficiency at complex tasks, and ease of use. The system, called ChatGPT, is the latest evolution of the GPT family of text-generating AIs. Two years ago, the team's previous AI, GPT3, was able to generate an opinion piece for the Guardian, and ChatGPT has significant further capabilities. In the days since it was released, academics have generated responses to exam queries that they say would result in full marks if submitted by an undergraduate, and programmers have used the tool to solve coding challenges in obscure programming languages in a matter of seconds – before writing limericks explaining the functionality. Dan Gillmor, a journalism professor at Arizona State University, asked the AI to handle one of the assignments he gives his students: writing a letter to a relative giving advice regarding online security and privacy.
La veille de la cybersécurité
OpenAI's latest artificial intelligence bot ChatGPT can also write TV scripts and explain complex theories The latest iteration of a "mind-blowing" artificial intelligence chatbot has led to speculation that it could revolutionise entire industries and even potentially replace popular tools like Google's search engine. ChatGPT, created by leading AI research lab OpenAI, serves as a general purpose language model capable of understanding and generating human-like responses to a wide range of queries.
Beginner's Guide to Diffusion Models
Recently, there has been an increased interest in OpenAI's DALL-E, Stable Diffusion (the free alternative of DALL-E), and Midjourney (hosted on a Discord server). While AI-generated art is very cool, what is even more captivating is how it works in the first place. In the last section, I will include some resources for anyone to get started in this AI art space as well. So how do these technologies work? It uses something called a latent diffusion model, and the idea behind it is actually ingenious.
What is AI chatbot phenomenon ChatGPT and could it replace humans?
ChatGPT is a prototype dialogue-based AI chatbot capable of understanding natural human language and generating impressively detailed human-like written text. It is the latest evolution of the GPT – or Generative Pre-Trained Transformer – family of text-generating AIs. The new AI is the latest chatbot from the Elon Musk-founded independent research body OpenAI foundation. Musk co-founded the startup with other Silicon Valley investors including technology venture capitalist Sam Altman in late 2015, saying that the research centre would "advance digital intelligence in the way that is most likely to benefit humanity" according to a blog post at the time. The Twitter CEO has since left the board and distanced himself from the company, tweeting on Sunday that after he "learned" that OpenAI was accessing the platform's database for "training", he put a pause on it.
A Deep Dive Into Google's Newfound Successor
Google has been around for a pretty long time, and since surpassing Internet Explorer in 2016 they've maintained a strong hold on the search engine market. Now though, a new successor just might be approaching. OpenAI, an Artificial Intelligence research lab, has been working on numerous applications since it was created. Founded in 2015 by Elon Musk himself, the well-known richest man in the world, they've been able to significantly develop the advancements of machine learning. Just recently, one of their apps became a massive success.
Adobe accepts AI-generated stock art, with limits
Adobe is the latest stock image provider to take a stance on AI-generated art. The company has updated its guidelines to allow generative AI artwork on its stock photo service as long as it meets certain criteria. Contributors will have to label any AI-made content, and they'll require permission for any reference images or text prompt used to produce the art. Creators will likewise need releases for any material depicting recognizable people. The new policy also warns producers against misusing AI by submitting multiple images based on the same prompt.
Your creativity won't save your job from AI
Artificial intelligence is coming for creativity. Skills such as illustration and writing that were once deemed the most resistant to incursions by artificial intelligence are now being credibly emulated by programs like DALL·E 2 and GPT-3. Where does that leave workers in creative fields, and how should they prepare to compete? In today's newsletter, I rounded up some of The Atlantic's recent coverage of artificial-intelligence technologies that paints a picture (not the AI kind) of what the future could look like. I'll see you next Monday.
