How Generative AI Will Change All Knowledge Work

#artificialintelligence

It's becoming clearer that the next big wave of changes to how and where many of us work will be sparked by new applications of artificial intelligence. Until now, the impact of AI on our jobs has been abstract for most workers, something that seemed to be out on the distant horizon. But the recent acceleration of applications around so-called generative AI is showing us how quickly and broadly our work will change. The latest wave of AI tools generally doesn't require technical skills and includes image generators, video editors, podcast audio editors, email-reply generators, word processors, computer coding assistants, research-paper summarizers, marketing copywriters, and much more. OpenAI's Dall-E and ChatGPT services give you a quick sense of the power behind these tools.

I asked ChatGPT to do my work and write an Insider article for me. It quickly generated an alarmingly convincing article filled with misinformation.

I didn't write those words, though they're quite passable as this story's first two sentences. It's true: I'd love to find new ways to streamline my workflow and produce engaging content โ€“ and I was eager to try OpenAI's new chatbot, called ChatGPT. The chatbot was released to the public in late November, and within 5 days, it gained over 1 million users. In the few weeks since its launch, the bot has been used for everything from writing code to therapy. Elon Musk, who co-founded OpenAI but resigned from the company in 2018, called ChatGPT "scary good."

ChatGPT: Everything you need to know about OpenAI's GPT-3 tool

#artificialintelligence

For years, there has been worldwide fear of artificial intelligence (AI) and its impending takeover of the worldโ€ฆ who knew that it would start with the world of art and literature. After months of dominating the internet with its AI image generator Dall-E 2, OpenAI is back in everyone's social media feeds thanks to ChatGPT - a chatbot made using the company's technology GPT-3. It's not exactly the catchiest name and could easily be the title of a random computer component or vague legal reference, but GPT-3 is actually the internet's best-known language processing AI model. So what is GPT-3 and how is it used to make ChatGPT? What is it able to do, and what in the world is a language processing AI model?

In Brief The squishy brains behind OpenAI's artificial ones are predicting developments like the ChatGPT system will see money flooding in โ€“ with a forecast of earning around $1 billion by 2024. According to an investors' briefing document seen by Reuters the machine-learning biz expects to break $200 million in revenues next year and bust through the billion mark 12 months later. Founded by, among others, Elon Musk and Y Combinator's Sam Altman, the outfit is currently valued at around $20 billion. Part of the reason for such prognostications could be an increased role from Microsoft. Redmond took a $1 billion stake in OpenAI in 2019 and is reportedly looking to increase its investment, with a view to rolling OpenAI's tools like ChatGPT into the software giant's suite of tools for knowledge workers.

YouTuber argues AI art is good for humanity

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI art) has come a long way in a short amount of time. Today's AI art platforms can create some of the most incredible and outstanding images imaginable. These are usually achieved through systems such as Midjourney version 4 and DALL-E 2. AI today can even create extremely realistic images that look like photography which means it's also taking the photography world by storm.

Exploring the Boundaries of AI. How Far Have We Come and Where Are Weโ€ฆ

When I think of AI, I like to imagine a world where I don't need to drive, my personal robot does my homework, and I don't have to spend another second doing some meaningless task. Then, an alarm goes off and I wake up to a disappointing reality with no cool robots and no self driving cars. AI is not exactly where Sci-fi shows and movies show it to be. According to them, we live in a world where AGI -- Artificial General Intelligence is a reality. AGI is an AI is complex enough to simulate a human brain with emotions, personality and everything that makes us who we are.

AI Art in Architecture

Recent diffusion-based AI art platforms are able to create impressive images from simple text descriptions. This makes them powerful tools for concept design in any discipline that requires creativity in visual design tasks. This is also true for early stages of architectural design with multiple stages of ideation, sketching and modelling. In this paper, we investigate how applicable diffusion-based models already are to these tasks. We research the applicability of the platforms Midjourney, DALL-E 2 and StableDiffusion to a series of common use cases in architectural design to determine which are already solvable or might soon be. We also analyze how they are already being used by analyzing a data set of 40 million Midjourney queries with NLP methods to extract common usage patterns. With this insights we derived a workflow to interior and exterior design that combines the strengths of the individual platforms.

If you haven't heard about ChatGPT, the new chatbot in town, there are chances you might be living under a rock. This chatbot developed by OpenAI is known to interact with users like a conversation, answers questions and even gives detailed answers on historical facts. What's more surprising that it is now used by users who are seeking matches on dating apps like Tinder. According to a Mashable report, Tinder users have created bots to swipe and message for them. The app has banned users who use this message, but it has come to the light that even this dating platform uses AI to generate conversation starters.
