Human resources technology startup Talent Fabric Ltd., which does business as Perfect, announced today that it has closed on a $13 million seed funding round as it looks to take on established platforms such as LinkedIn Corp. in talent recruitment. Today's round was led by Target Global and saw participation from Joule Venture and RTP Global, plus a host of individual investors. Based in Israel, Perfect has created what it says is a generative artificial intelligence-powered platform that helps organizations to fill staff vacancies by mapping the profiling career graphs of millions of technology-focused professionals. The company says it wants to break LinkedIn's monopoly on the talent scouting market, so it relies on generative AI to help companies search for the ideal signals for each available position they're looking to fill. Perfect scans dozens of public data sources, including social media and other databases, searching for the ideal candidates whose skills match what an employer is looking for.

The next breakthrough to take the AI world by storm might be 3D model generators. This week, OpenAI open sourced Point-E, a machine learning system that creates a 3D object given a text prompt. According to a paper published alongside the code base, Point-E can produce 3D models in one to two minutes on a single Nvidia V100 GPU. Point-E doesn't create 3D objects in the traditional sense. After digging a little deeper, user Pieter Levels--who goes by @levelsio on the platform--found that some users are apparently now using the popular text-generating AI ChatGPT to reply to tweets. It all started with a tweet at 8:56 a.m., where Levels jokes about his nomadic friends using a typical two line meme format. Seven minutes later, Levels received a reply from an account with a display name Pragyan Tripathi, who calls himself a developer, educator, and founder, while boasting over ten years in the tech industry. OpenAI's ChatGPT, the large language model (LLM)-based artificial intelligence (AI) text generator, can be seemingly used to generate code for malicious tasks, a research note by cyber security firm Check Point observed on Tuesday. Researchers at Check Point used ChatGPT and Codex, a fellow OpenAI natural language to code generator, used standard English instructions to create code that can be used to launch spear phishing attacks.
