Today however, generative AI applications such as ChatGPT and Midjourney are threatening to upend this special status and significantly alter creative work, both independent and salaried. The authors explore three non-exclusive scenarios for this disruption of content creation: 1) people use AI to augment their work, leading to greater productivity, 2) generative AI creates a flood of cheap content that drives out human creatives, and 3) human-made creative work demands a premium. In a sign that the seed-stage AI segment is still alive and kicking, Betaworks, the startup studio and VC firm, is launching a new program that'll award $500,000 in funding to approximately 10 companies working on AI. Scheduled to run from mid-June until mid-September, Betaworks' program -- the ninth of its kind -- will provide startups access to benefits including a business-building curriculum and accelerated compute from companies including Hugging Face and Stability AI. The program isn't quite an accelerator; Betaworks describes it like a "camp." Spotted by BGR, this shortcut doesn't replace Siri with ChatGPT, but rather uses Apple's voice assistant to forward your questions to ChatGPT and provide responses from the AI chatbot. Yang states that since the shortcut connects ChatGPT and Siri, it can work on almost any device with Siri, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

AWS has entered the red-hot realm of generative AI with the introduction of a suite of generative AI development tools. The cornerstone of these is Amazon Bedrock, a tool for building generative AI applications using pre-trained foundation models accessible via an API through AI startups like AI21 Labs, Anthropic, and Stability AI, as well as Amazon's own Titan family of foundation models (FMs). Bedrock offers serverless integration with AWS tools and capabilities, enabling customers to find the right model for their needs, customize it with their data, and deploy it without managing costly infrastructure. Amazon states that the infrastructure supporting the Bedrock service will employ a mix of Amazon's proprietary AI chips (AWS Trainium and AWS Inferentia) and GPUs from Nvidia. AI and crypto are trying to combine forces. FalconX's new trading bot, Satoshi, may be their first major breakthrough together. Artificial intelligence could soon be making waves in the cryptocurrency business, though perhaps not in the way you think. Rather than merging the two technologies, San Francisco-based prime broker FalconX plans to put a chatbot in the co-pilot's seat for investors. Using technology created by OpenAI, whose ChatGPT program is helping companies like Microsoft rewire online search, FalconX clients will be able pose questions like "What are the three biggest differences between two blockchain platforms?"

Italy's data protection authority has said that it's willing to lift its ChatGPT ban if OpenAI meets specific conditions. The Guarantor for the Protection of Personal Data (GPDP) announced last month that it was blocking access to OpenAI's ChatGPT. The move was part of an ongoing investigation into whether the chatbot violated Italy's data privacy laws and the EU's infamous General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The GPDP was concerned that ChatGPT could recall and emit personal information, such as phone numbers and addresses, from input queries. Additionally, officials were worried that the chatbot could expose minors to inappropriate answers that could potentially be harmful.
