What is PPC Automation Layering and How to Make Effective

#artificialintelligence

After many years of deliberating about the potential negative consequences of industrial automation for blue-collar workers, it is now clear that robots will also be coming for professionals. This may not be possible immediately. It seems certain that automation will allow organizations to automate many of the processes and tasks currently performed by humans in the coming years. The latest version of OpenAI's ChatGPT is causing a lot of concern. Its remarkable language generation abilities have sparked a legit AI arms race between tech giants such as Meta, Google, Apple, and Meta.

OpenAI's CEO confirms the company isn't training GPT-5 and 'won't for some time' - The Verge

#artificialintelligence

Because of the overlap between the worlds of consumer tech and artificial intelligence, this same logic is now often applied to systems like OpenAI's language models. This is true not only of the sort of hucksters who post hyperbolic Twitter threads predicting that superintelligent AI will be here in a matter of years because the numbers keep getting bigger but also of more informed and sophisticated commentators. As a lot of claims made about AI superintelligence are essentially unfalsifiable, these individuals rely on similar rhetoric to get their point across. They draw vague graphs with axes labeled "progress" and "time," plot a line going up and to the right, and present this uncritically as evidence.

How Generative AI Might Disrupt the Creative Process?

#artificialintelligence

The expansion of Artificial Intelligence is transforming the world. The game of artificial intelligence is evolving thanks to generative AI and other foundation models, which are also speeding up application development and giving non-technical people access to significant capabilities. Currently, the "creator economy" is estimated to be worth $14 billion annually. Independent authors, podcasters, artists, and musicians may engage with audiences directly and generate their revenue thanks to new internet channels. Individuals can create content on websites like Substack, Flipboard, and Steemit, as well as operate as independent producers and brand managers of their creations.

Stability AI debuts next-gen photorealistic image generation model - SiliconANGLE

#artificialintelligence

Generative artificial intelligence company Stability AI Ltd. today released an updated version of its popular open-source photorealistic image generation model. London-based Stability AI is the developer of Stable Diffusion, an AI model that can automatically generate realistic-looking images based on text prompts. It's not the only AI model with that capability, but what differentiates it is that it's available under an open-source license and can run on relatively simple hardware. These two features have helped it quickly amass a large user base. The latest model is called Stable Diffusion XL, and it's the latest addition to the Stable Diffusion suite.

AI can make movies, edit actors, fake voices. Hollywood isn't ready.

Washington Post - Technology News

But the entrance of these tools is causing trepidation. A Goldman Sachs report in late March said generative AI could significantly disrupt the global economy and subject 300 million jobs to automation. The Writers Guild of America, which represents screenwriters, is locked in negotiations with movie studios -- and the way artificial intelligence can be used in scriptwriting is a key sticking point. Actors, such as Keanu Reeves, are raising alarm bells, saying the rise of generative AI is "scary" and could be a way for executives to not pay artists fairly.

Factbox: Governments' efforts to regulate AI tools

#artificialintelligence

April 12 (Reuters) - Italy's data protection agency said on Wednesday it would lift its temporary ban on OpenAI's ChatGPT artificial intelligence (AI) technology if the U.S. company complied with data protection and privacy demands by end-April. Rapid advances in AI such as Microsoft-backed OpenAI's ChatGPT are complicating governments' efforts to agree on laws governing the use of the technology. The government requested advice on how to respond to AI from Australia's main science advisory body and is considering next steps, a spokesperson for the industry and science minister said on April 12. Britain said in March it plans to split responsibility for governing AI between its regulators for human rights, health and safety, and competition, rather than creating a new body. China's cyberspace regulator on April 11 unveiled draft measures to manage generative AI services, saying it wants firms to submit security assessments to authorities before they launch offerings to the public. China's capital Beijing will support leading enterprises in building AI models that can challenge ChatGPT, its economy and information technology bureau said in February.

User spending goes up by more than 4000% on AI-powered apps

#artificialintelligence

Given the rising interest in generative AI tools like text-based ChatGPT and image-based Midjourney, AI-powered apps are growing in numbers and popularity in both app stores. A report by analytics firm Apptopia suggests that 158 AI Chatbot apps -- with the description having keywords like "AI Chat" or "AI Chatbot" -- hit the app stores in the first quarter of this year. The data suggests that multiple apps like Nova AI, Genie AI and Chat with Ask AI have broken into top charts in app stores -- a lot of these apps are similarly named, so it's easy to get confused between them. At the time of writing, Chat with Ask AI is on the top 10 free apps list on iOS in multiple countries. Apptopia mentions in the report that developers are trying to convert AI chatbot tech, which is easily available on a web browser, into a native mobile experience and charging money for it.

Alison El-Araby: The disruptive potential of artificial intelligence

#artificialintelligence

AI has been making steady progress over the last decade owing to advances in computing and better access to quality data sets. More recently, however, OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot model has captured the public's attention with its ability to answer, augment and automate across a wide range of knowledge-based functions. While far from foolproof, the model has been known to pass qualifying exams in several fields and could be a clarion call for how education, and society more broadly, must prepare for a new wave of disruptive innovation. Knowledge workers are not the only ones who have taken notice. DALL-E, the artistic form of OpenAI, has also made waves with its creative expression in poetry and imagery.

Unlocking the power of data with Generative AI - The AI Journal

#artificialintelligence

Generative AI has picked up incredible momentum in the last few months. Hype is now becoming reality, with companies of all sizes, in all industries, embracing GPT and other large language models (LLMs) to enhance business operations and customer offerings. We are seeing first-hand how this technology can truly transform organisations, and the relationship between human and machine. At the same time, we are in the defining'decade of data' – a period marked by the fundamental shifts in power created by the intersection of technology and data and the impact this has in every facet of our lives. In today's landscape, a company's data can be two or three times more valuable than the company itself.
