Gmail's Live AI search feature arrives for Google AI subscribers

Engadget

Gmail's search can be frustrating and basic, but Google is finally smartening it up for AI plan subscribers with the release of Gmail Live. Now out of beta after being announced at Google I/O last month, the AI feature allows you to search your inbox using conversational voice commands. It's similar to live voice chats with the Gemini chatbot, but customized for popular apps like Gmail, Docs and Drive, with each getting its own version of the functionality. The feature, Google says, allows you to find details in buried in emails without digging through endless threads. "Use conversational search to find information just by asking things like, 'What's my flight's gate number?' or'What's going on at my kid's school this week?' and Gmail Live will scan your inbox and give you answers quickly," Google explains.

How AI is helping cities tackle invisible pollution

AIHub

In cities, air pollution can vary sharply from one street to the next. Fumes may linger between tall buildings, collect at busy junctions or drift towards a school gate. However, cities often lack the detailed forecasts needed to act before levels become dangerous. For Professor Soledad Le Clainche, an applied mathematician at the Technical University of Madrid and leader of the ModelFLOWs research group, better understanding how air moves through cities could help tackle one of Europe's biggest environmental health challenges. As part of an EU-funded research project called MODELAIR, Le Clainche is working with researchers in Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK to make the invisible, highly local patterns of urban pollution easier for cities to understand.
