French troops board oil tanker linked to Russian 'shadow fleet'
French troops board oil tanker linked to Russian'shadow fleet' French soldiers have boarded an oil tanker believed to be part of Russia's shadow fleet, used to evade sanctions imposed because of the war in Ukraine. The Boracay left Russia last month and was off the coast of Denmark when unidentified drones forced the temporary closure of several airports last week. It has been anchored off western France for a few days. French President Emmanuel Macron said at an EU leaders' summit in Copenhagen on Wednesday that the crew had committed serious offences, but did not elaborate. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia had no knowledge of the vessel.

Israel, US point to Iran after drone strikes Israeli-controlled tanker off Oman's coast
Netanyahu spoke to Fox News Digital following the release of his new memoir, "Bibi: My Story." Officials in Israel say Iran is responsible for a drone strike that hit an Israel-associated, Liberian-flagged oil tanker off the coast of Oman on Tuesday. The tanker, the Pacific Zircon, sustained minor damage to its hull with no injuries or spillage of the gas oil cargo, Israeli-controlled Eastern Pacific Shipping said Wednesday, and an Israeli official said Iran was responsible. Three maritime sources told Reuters that a drone was suspected to have attacked the tanker. An Israeli official said Iran was responsible for the attack by using a Shahed-136 drone, the type it has been supplying to Russia for use in its war against Ukraine.

An oil tanker associated with an Israeli billionaire has been struck by a bomb-carrying drone off the coast of Oman amid heightened tensions with Iran, an official has told the Associated Press. The attack happened on Tuesday night off the coast of Oman, the Middle East-based defence official said. The official spoke on Wednesday on condition of anonymity as they did not have authorisation to discuss the attack publicly. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, a British military organisation in the region monitoring shipping, told the AP: "We are aware of an incident and it's being investigated at this time." The official identified the vessel attacked as the Liberian-flagged oil tanker Pacific Zircon.

Tech may be taking away jobs, but it is creating many more of them: ULCC Group CEO Raveendran Kasthuri
There is no need to raise an alarm over loss of jobs from induction of existing technology, because even more jobs are being created in its wake, says Raveendran Kasthuri, ex-IBMer and Group CEO of the Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCC), based in Kozhikode, Kerala. Started as a cooperative society by labourers, ULCC has now grown to become one of the largest workers' cooperatives in Asia, at a time when, back home, cooperatives have come under the regulatory scanner for many reasons. As Group CEO, Kasthuri also looks after UL technology Solutions (ULTS), which was established in 2011 to maintain a balance between traditional and modern technologies. It offers a unique mix of traditional values and modern technological insights in its services and helps to formulate and implement comprehensive solutions for clients. ULTS describes itself as a cooperative corporate, with a focus on technology verticals such as Geographic Information System (GIS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and analytics.

Two 'supertanker trends' reshaping future asset allocation
Climate change and artificial intelligence (AI) are two "supertanker trends" that are reshaping future investing, according to a study by BNY Mellon Investment Management and CREATE-Research. The study, entitled "Future 2024: Future proofing your asset allocation in the age of mega trends", looks at global investor perception of these two secular forces and their impact on approaches to asset allocation, as well as the solutions that are being promoted. The "supertanker trends" were identified by 89% of participating institutional investors – with combined assets under management (AuM) of $12.75 trillion – as investment risks. Some 93% who view climate change as an investment risk said it is yet to be priced in by all the key financial markets globally, while 85% highlighted societal backlash and geopolitical tension as potential consequences emanating from AI. Investors view both climate risk and AI as materially important factors, according to the study.
