Apple reveals enhanced artificial intelligence in latest iOS update
Apple is introducing more artificial intelligence to the iPhone and iPad, with devices now able to understand conversations and recognise faces in photos. The technology giant's virtual assistant Siri has been given a major update that now means it can use machine learning to predict words you plan to use in text conversations as well as find faces in your photo albums. Apple chief executive Tim Cook opened the keynote at the WWDC conference in San Francisco by paying tribute to the victims of the Orlando shootings, saying Apple offered its "deepest sympathies to everyone whose lives were touched by the violence". He then led a moment's silence before the event began. As part of the iOS 10 update revealed at the event, it was also announced that Apple Music, the firm's streaming service, will be getting a complete re-design.

WWDC 2016: When the Apple conference starts, how to watch live and what to expect โ everything you need to know
Nasa has announced that it has found evidence of flowing water on Mars. Scientists have long speculated that Recurring Slope Lineae -- or dark patches -- on Mars were made up of briny water but the new findings prove that those patches are caused by liquid water, which it has established by finding hydrated salts. Several hundred camped outside the London store in Covent Garden. The 6s will have new features like a vastly improved camera and a pressure-sensitive "3D Touch" display

They would reshape the Future by changing the Past. The plan required something that felt no pity.
A screenplay written by artificial intelligence has been made into a film
Three actors in glittery metallic costumes stand in an office, spouting gibberish at one another: the outcome of an experiment that couldn't be any more predictable. Earlier this week, UK filmmaker Oscar Sharp released Sunspring, an experimental film based on a screenplay developed by an artificial intelligence. The project saw Mr Sharp and technologist Ross Goodwin feeding an artificial long short-term memory neural network (LSTM) an array of science fiction film scripts. Mr Sharp and Mr Goodwin then programmed the LSTM to process the scripts, using cinematic writing conventions to produce a screenplay of its own. Mr Sharp then spent 48 hours developing the script into a film, before releasing it on the Ars Technica Videos YouTube page on June 9.
'Sunspring' movie: An intense and thought-provoking film written by artificial intelligence
"Sunspring," a movie that has been entirely written by algorithm, debuted on the website Ars Technica recently. The movie has been under the spotlight as the complete story of it has been written by artificial intelligence instead of normal human screenwriters. "Sunspring" is a short science fiction film about three people who are in a surrealistic future, seemingly a space station. Initially, the movie looks like a love triangle between three lead characters โ H (portrayed by "Silicon Valeey's Thomas Middleditch), who is wearing a gleaming gold jacket, H2 (played by Elisabeth Gray) who is operating the computers, and C (Humphrey Ker) who declares that he has to "go to the skull" as he puts his face in a bunch of green lights. Though the movie gives a vibe of a typical sci-fi B-movie, it is unlike any of the other Hollywood science fiction movies as the entire script of the movie has been done by AI.
Apple readies AI pitch to cap developer season
The biggest names in tech are encouraging developers to build products for their app ecosystem. File photo taken in 2015 shows an illustration of an iPhone held up in front of the Apple logo. SAN FRANCISCO -- Like a dressed-down awards season, Apple's WWDC conference concludes a three-month developer season. But will it end with a bang, as the Academy Awards do for the film industry? It began with Microsoft's Build in March and continued with Facebook's F8 show in April and Google I/O in May. The quartet of tech behemoths are sharing their latest-and-greatest with developers to entice them to create new apps for products and services for the fall and beyond.
Coming later today: Apple's next big software improvements
FILE - In this June 10, 2013, file photo, Eddy Cue, Apple senior vice president of internet software and services, talking about the new voices of Siri virtual assistant during the keynote address of the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. Apple's Siri made a big splash when the wisecracking digital assistant debuted in 2011. But as its competitors jockey to build intelligent "chat bots" and voice-controlled home systems capable of more challenging artificial-intelligence feats, Siri at times no longer seems cutting edge. On Monday, June 13, 2016, Apple is expected to demonstrate how much smarter Siri can get as it kicks off its annual software conference.
Business is waking up to the idea of deep learning
In the movie Transcendence, Johnny Depp plays Dr Will Caster, a researcher in artificial intelligence at Berkeley trying to build a sentient computer. Stuart Russell is Will Caster's real life equivalent. He works on artificial intelligence at the University of California at Berkeley, and is co-author of the definitive textbook on AI. He has also been very vocal about the risks of research in AI succeeding. Earlier this year, Google's DeepMind taught a computer program to play a wide variety of Atari video games at a superhuman level in a matter of hours.
