The Future Is Now, How APIs and Machine Learning Can Change Talent Acquisition
Earlier this week in San Francisco, Jibe participated in a Google press event and the launch of new machine learning APIs for the Google Cloud Platform. Specifically for enterprise HR, Google announced its Google Cloud Jobs API which understands which of a company's jobs best match a jobseeker's preference. For talent acquisition leaders machine learning might seem like something out of a sci-fi movie. Simply put, machine learning is software programs that get smarter and make better recommendations as they are exposed to more data. Examples of machine learning are recommendations for Facebook friends, Netflix movies, AirBnB listings or Amazon products.
Consumers confused about artificial intelligence: Study - ET CIO
New Delhi, Most customers are confused about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and are, therefore, reluctant to embrace this new technology, a study said on Friday. Released by US-based software firm Pegasystems, it revealed that these fears are often eased once the users gain firsthand AI experience -- which ironically many enjoy without even realising it. "Our study suggests the recent hype is causing some confusion and fear among consumers, who may not really understand how it's already being used and helping them every day," said Don Schuerman, Vice President (Product Marketing) Pegasystems. The study that involved 6,000 customers in six countries found that consumers were hesitant to fully embrace AI devices and services. "Only 36 per cent are comfortable with businesses using AI to engage with them. Almost 72 per cent express some sort of fear about AI," the study found.
Player Piano, or How Digital Marketers Can Survive the Advent of AI - State of Digital
This post is the written version of the talk I presented at The Inbounder World Tour Madrid on March 17. Who knows me or simply follows me on social networks, knows that I am a science fiction geek, which is not surprising in a man who in his childhood saw "Star Wars" in the movie theater or the original series of "Battlestar Galactica" on television. Robots are ones of the main characters in sci-fi tv series, movies and novels. These mechanical beings with human or superhuman intelligence have always fascinated us. If we look only at the history of cinema, we can find some naive robots, like the Tin Man of "The Wizard of Oz", or subtly dangerous, like Ava in "Ex-Machina", or more humans than humans, like the mythical Roy Batty of "Blade Runner".

Today, with Digitization of everything, 80 percent the data being created is unstructured. Audio, Video, our social footprints, the data generated from conversations between customer service reps, tons of legal document's texts processed in financial sectors are examples of unstructured data stored in Big Data. The Hotel California of #AI @CloudExpo @ReneBuest #ArtificialIntelligence
In 1977, the Eagles released "Hotel California", a song about drugs and the effects an addiction has on people. Putting "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device" in the context of our digital lifestyle today we find a lot of truth. There is a reason why Google provides most of its services for free or why Amazon wants us to have an Echo in every home or why Facebook has become our directory of "friends." What looks pretty convenient is a threat. It is a threat to the end consumers but also a threat to the established economy. And even if we have the choice to check out any time - we will never leave.
A look back at the history of Artificial Intelligence in cinema
Elon Musk admits it, some of the greatest scientific minds agree. But the movies did warn us. Ever since Fritz Lang's Metropolis broke cinematic sci-fi ground way back in 1927, they've been telling us about the horrors of artificial intelligence. Smart devices that would track our every movement, robots who turn from helpful to harmful, and eventually, the whole virtual faรงade coming crashing down. So before the next major glitch happens and you wake up in some human-harvesting field covered in goo, prepare yourself with warnings of the coming storm.
Artificial intelligence chatbots will overwhelm human speech online; the rise of MADCOMs
TL;DR: Machine-driven communications tools are a reality now and artificial intelligence enabled tools will soon dominate the online information space. This paradigm shift isn't limited to artificial personal assistants like Siri and recreational chatbots like Xiaoice. It refers to machine-driven communication overwhelming Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Match, Reddit, chat rooms, news site comment sections, and the rest of the social web. All of it will be dominated by machines talking. This machine communication will be nearly indistinguishable from human communication. The machines will be trying to persuade, sell, deceive, intimidate, manipulate, and cajole you into whatever response they're programmed to elicit. They will be unbelievably effective. Machine-driven communication is here now. Advances in artificial intelligence will radically increase the efficacy of machine-driven communication tools. A machine-dominated information environment is a rational extrapolation of current technology trends into the near future.

Demi Lovato: James Corden is the best damn diva Corden, for his part, covered Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin, but his standout moment was during his banter with Lovato. James Corden and Demi Lovato channeled their inner divas during a riff-off on Wednesday night's "The Late Late Show". Aetna will not sell 2018 Obamacare exchange plans in Iowa Earlier this week the Iowa Insurance Commission announced that Wellmark would also no longer provide individual plans in Iowa. Medica could be the only choice for individual policies in Iowa for 2018, and the company declined to declare its intentions. Divisions remain when it comes to repealing Obamacare From its onset, the Kentucky senator opposed the AHCA for the same reasons that members of the Freedom Caucus cited.
'Ghost in the Shell' is more cyberposeur than cyberpunk
Spoilers ahead for the Ghost in the Shell anime and US remake. The original Ghost in the Shell anime feature is a cultural landmark. It was a neo-noir story set in a startlingly fresh vision of a connected world, and it was particularly timely in 1995 since the internet was just finding its legs in the real world. The film's lead was a badass cyborg woman privy to bouts of existentialism. And, like the best cyberpunk science fiction, Ghost in the Shell (and its original manga) asked deep questions about our relationship with technology.
