Even data scientists are facing AI takeover

@machinelearnbot

It's with this cultural zeitgeist in mind that I read Andrew Brust's recent article about Alteryx's new tool for "operationalizing" machine learning models.

Alexa can control all the Dish TVs in your home

Engadget

Dish has been cozying up with Amazon of late. The Pay TV provider already offers an Echo Dot to new customers, which lets you control its Hopper DVR or Wally with your voice. And, now you can do the same with all the Joey-enabled TVs in your home as well. As long as you have one of Amazon's smart speakers in earshot, you'll be able to bark orders at your extra television sets, which is great for when you want to pause and resume the action between rooms. And, if you seek to rule the TV in the kid's bedroom.

How Machine Learning Will Affect DJing Music Production - DJ TechTools

@machinelearnbot

We grilled the experts on what machine learning can and will do to change the game of computer music. Should DJs and music producers welcome it as a liberator, or fear it as a usurper of your job behind the decks? Spoiler alert: You're going to want a better laptop. Every time you do a Google search or use Google Maps, Siri, Shazam, you benefit from artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. The trickle of AI-assisted tools in everyday life is quickly becoming a deluge.

How Scared Is The Illuminati Of Motuphi? Peep THIS!

#artificialintelligence

How scared is the ancient AI controlled Illuminati of Motuphi? Well they must be pretty damned scared to start assaulting the guy when he was a child and continuing the carnage upon his life even to this day. As if it wasn't bad enough that Christians used to rape the boy when he was just a little kid, IN the church, while services was goin' on. His mama was botted by the ancient AI to leave him with a "prophet" when he was a child who had a pedophile torture dungeon. There's still kiddie porn out there that Motuphi starred in as a little kid that depicts him being tortured on a table via fisting and anally raping him with foreign objects.

How Absurd Do You Like Your Art? - Facts So Romantic

Nautilus

Some art makes a lot of sense. If we look at a painting or a photograph of a gorgeous view, its beauty feels natural. The reason for this is that the kinds of landscapes people tend to like correspond to places that would have been a good place for our ancestors to camp1: elevated, with a view of water, wildlife, and diverse flora, especially flowering and fruiting plants. But there are many popular works of art that people enjoy that are less straightforward. Music, for example, can establish patterns, and then add something unusual, perhaps a "blue note" in jazz, that only later gets resolved.

A New AI is Writing Perverse Horror Fiction

#artificialintelligence

Developers of artificial intelligence (AI) systems have been dabbling in the arts for a while now. There's already an AI capable of composing original music -- it even has its own album -- writing film screenplays, and even painting. Now, as an early Halloween treat, the latest AI artist is aspiring to be a horror novelist. Meet Shelley AI, a deep learning algorithm that was developed by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and named after Victorian-era novelist Mary Shelley who penned Frankenstein. The AI was trained using stories collected from a subreddit dedicated to sharing original eerie tales.

HPE Introduces New Set of Artificial Intelligence Platforms and Services HPE Newsroom

#artificialintelligence

PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 25, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE:HPE) today announced new purpose-built platforms and services capabilities to help companies simplify the adoption of Artificial Intelligence, with an initial focus on a key subset of AI known as deep learning. Inspired by the human brain, deep learning is typically implemented for challenging tasks such as image and facial recognition, image classification and voice recognition. To take advantage of deep learning, enterprises need a high performance compute infrastructure to build and train learning models that can manage large volumes of data to recognize patterns in audio, images, videos, text and sensor data. Many organizations lack several integral requirements to implement deep learning, including expertise and resources; sophisticated and tailored hardware and software infrastructure; and the integration capabilities required to assimilate different pieces of hardware and software to scale AI systems. "We live in a world today where we're generating copious amounts of data, and deep learning can help unleash intelligence from this data," said Pankaj Goyal, vice president, Artificial Intelligence Business, Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

The Future of Online Dating Is Unsexy and Brutally Effective

@machinelearnbot

When I give the dating app LoveFlutter my Twitter handle, it rewards me with a 28-axis breakdown of my personality: I'm an analytic Type A who's unsettlingly sex-focused and neurotic (99th percentile). On the sidebar where my "Personality Snapshot" is broken down in further detail, a section called "Chat-Up Advice" advises, "Do your best to avoid being negative. Get to the point quickly and don't waste their time. They may get impatient if you're moving too slowly." Loveflutter, a Twitter-themed dating app from the UK, doesn't ask me to fill out a personality survey or lengthy About Me (it caps my self-description at a cute 140 characters).
