Inspur Showcases Cloud Computing, Big Data and AI Solutions at 2018 CEBIT
At the conference, Inspur showcased the ODCC standard rack scale server, high-end mission critical 8-way server TS860, OpenPower9 systems, storage optimized server 4U106 Bay servers, and other systems designed for cloud. The full-stack AI solution includes the highest density GPU server -- AGX-2 -- with NVIDIA NVLink enabled, management software AIstation, care-MPI framework and the capability for application optimization. As the world's first NVLink enabled supercomputer with 8 NVIDIA V100 within 2U form factor, the AGX-2 improves the computing efficiency to develop high performance to propel AI, deep learning and advanced analytics development. With over 60% market share, Inspur's rack scale servers are widely used by CSPs such as Alibaba, Baidu, Tencent and 12306 (railway ticket online booking platform). It has set and maintains the record of deploying 10,000 nodes per day.
AI and the Digital Transformation - TvTechnology
At the root of the recent attention given to artificial intelligence is what is known, at a global level, as the "digital transformation." Although predominantly utilized in the context of business, digital transformation (DX) has broad reaching impacts to many areas not the least of which are the television media and entertainment industries. DX is reaching the public and business sectors, numerous organizational activities, business process management (BPM), social media, and institutions ranging from government through education. This industry-wide digital transformation is fueled, in part, by the increased focus and capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) and by the applications of machine learning (ML). DX, AI and ML are augmented services either in the cloud or occasionally on premises.
The Mothership podcast: Breaking down our favorite E3 video-game reveals
The Mothership is USA TODAY's podcast that covers all things nerdy in pop culture. Hosted by tech reporter Brett Molina, film critic Brian Truitt and entertainment writer Kelly Lawler, each week our roundtable of experts dissects the latest in geek culture, from superhero movies to sci-fi TV shows to the latest and greatest video games.
The Impact Of Artificial Intelligence In The Everyday Lives Of Consumers
Artificial intelligence might conjure images of a robotic Haley Joel Osment in Spielberg's film AI, or it may make you think of Data from Star Trek. Yet the impact of artificial intelligence in everyday life is more understated and far-reaching than science fiction might suggest. Artificial intelligence has the potential to offer $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030. You already encounter it every day. Think of all those times Amazon recommended a book to you or Netflix suggested a film or TV show.
Process Audit: How to Prepare Your Team for AI - The Hutch Report
Today, it is no longer a question of adopting AI or not. Instead, ask yourself if you and your sales team are ready for the inevitable. Artificial intelligence for business is a reality. If your goal is to forge ahead and lead in your field, then you need to adapt to a workplace where AI plays a crucial role. As J.J. Kardwell, founder and CEO of predictive marketing software company EverString, puts it: "Growth-focused sales organizations of every size and stage cannot afford to ignore the benefits of AI-assisted sales."
How AI Views Blockchain -- Will BEF Hold the Answers?
There is a lot of talk these days about how blockchain and artificial intelligence(AI) are working together to create a new future. But nobody has asked an AI yet what they think about blockchain technology, and I like to get my information directly from the source. Thus, I am going to the Blockchain Economic Forum (BEF) in San Francisco this June, to hear about this topic from the most well spoken of all AIs' to date, Sophia the Robot. Built by Hanson Robotics in Hong Kong, Sophia has become a cultural icon with her empathic features and witty banter. Videos of her speeches often go viral online, and she has had fascinating things to say, especially when it comes to helping people have a better understanding of robotics, and if a Terminator type future is possible.
Rise of the machines: has technology evolved beyond our control?
The voice-activated gadget in the corner of your bedroom suddenly laughs maniacally, and sends a recording of your pillow talk to a colleague. The clip of Peppa Pig your toddler is watching on YouTube unexpectedly descends into bloodletting and death. The social network you use to keep in touch with old school friends turns out to be influencing elections and fomenting coups. Something strange has happened to our way of thinking – and as a result, even stranger things are happening to the world. We have come to believe that everything is computable and can be resolved by the application of new technologies. But these technologies are not neutral facilitators: they embody our politics and biases, they extend beyond the boundaries of nations and legal jurisdictions and increasingly exceed the understanding of even their creators. As a result, we understand less and less about the world as these powerful technologies assume more control over our everyday lives. Across the sciences and society, in politics and education, in warfare and commerce, new technologies are not merely augmenting our abilities, they are actively shaping and directing them, for better and for worse. If we do not understand how complex technologies function then their potential is more easily captured by selfish elites and corporations.
Channel Master Stream review: The ups and downs of an Android TV DVR
Channel Master is aware of your complaints about its Stream over-the-air DVR, but is powerless to do much about them. That's the impression I get from the Known Bugs & Issues page for its Stream DVR, a $149 set-top box that can record free over-the-air TV channels. Compared to Channel Master's now-discontinued DVR, the Stream offers a slicker interface, fancy features such as voice search, and a much bigger selection of streaming video apps. But in some ways, the Stream is less capable than the DVRs it replaces. And as a streaming box, it lacks access to some of the most popular online video services, including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
How will AI re-shape the movie experience?
May 4 – Star Wars Day – has come and gone again, but as always, offered a chance to have some fun with data and analytics. Mary Osborne used text analytics to show Luke Skywalker's emotional journey across the movies, from young and idealistic to older and more jaded, but with rather more humility. Data engineering, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence in particular, now offer new ways to examine subjects new and old to gain new insights. Artificial intelligence has long been a staple subject in science fiction, from Asimov's robot stories through to 2016's Morgan. But could AI move behind the camera, perhaps as screenplay writer?
Spotify, TGI Fridays Enlist Foursquare For Machine Learning-Powered Measurement AdExchanger
Spotify and TGI Fridays are hooking up with Foursquare as a preferred measurement partner. Solid measurement is what seals the deal with marketers, said Brian Berner, head of US sales at Spotify. "Many of our [brand] partners have a brick-and-mortar presence, so we've seen increased demand for measurement that showcases how our ad platform connects to consumer behavior in the real world," he said. The partnership with Foursquare, announced Thursday, is part of Spotify's effort to help advertisers understand how their ad spend is driving results by making a "connection between our streaming intelligence and offline behavior," Berner said. To meet that industry-wide need, Foursquare has improved attribution with machine learning.
