AI: Life In The Age Of Intelligent Machines - Liwaiwai
We are said to be standing on the brink of a fourth industrial revolution – one that will see new forms of artificial intelligence (AI) underpinning almost every aspect of our lives. The new technologies will help us to tackle some of the greatest challenges that face our world. In fact AI is already very much part of our daily lives, says Dr Mateja Jamnik, one of the experts who appear in the film. "Clever algorithms are being executed in clever ways all around us… and we are only a decade away from a future where we are able to converse across multiple languages, where doctors will be able to diagnose better, where drivers will be able to drive more safely." Ideas around AI "are being dreamt up by thousands of people all over the world – imaginative young people who see a problem and think about how they can solve it using AI… whether it's recommending a song you'll like or curing us of cancer," says Professor Stephen Cave.
The new Move speaker from Sonos works wirelessly at home and on the go
The Sonos Move speaker ($399, out Sept. 24) can be used as a WiFi speaker at home, but also as a Bluetooth speaker outside and on the go. The newest Sonos wireless speaker has an important new feature: you can take it with you. The Santa Barbara, California-based speaker company has made its mark inside the home. Now, Sonos is taking on all those portable Bluetooth speaker competitors with its Move speaker ($399, out Sept. 24), which connects like its standard home speakers over Wi-Fi and also uses Bluetooth when you need music to go. At about 9 ½ inches tall, the Move speaker is dust- and water-resistant and, when fully charged, provides ten hours of battery life.
r/MachineLearning - [P] Agent Learns to Park a Car using Unity ML-Agents / Deep Reinforcement Learning (PPO)
Video available here (YouTube): https://youtu.be/VMp6pq6_QjI An AI learns to park a car in a parking lot in a 3D physics simulation. The AI consists of a deep Neural Network with 3 hidden layers of 128 neurons each. It is trained with the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) algorithm. The input of the Neural Network are the readings of eight depth sensors, the cars current speed and position, as well as its relative position to the target. The outputs of the Neural Network are interpreted as engine force, braking force and turning force (continuous values).
Is Artificial Intelligence about to transform the sync industry? - Music Business Worldwide
There's been plenty of discussion and debate on MBW's pages regarding the impact that Artificial Intelligence might have on the music business in the future. Obviously, there's its potentially seismic effect on the way musicians make music – whether that's AI producing non-human music from scratch, or providing tools that artists and songwriters can use to compose and perform in the studio. But there's also AI's application to more practical B2B tools to consider. Just last week, for example, we heard from Canada-based LANDR, which has launched an AI tool that helpfully sifts through its huge catalog of samples for those looking for a specific sound. Today, (September 4), a new twist on AI arrives via a fresh partnership between production music library Audio Network and Singapore-based machine learning company, Musiio.
YouTube will rely on spotty AI to comply with FTC settlement
But the company's plan relies on technology that has struggled to make nuanced decisions in the past. The Google unit will use artificial intelligence to identify which videos are aimed at kids, then cut those clips off from targeted ads. It's a plan politicians and consumers have heard before. YouTube has used AI for years to find and take down unwanted content including pornography, terrorist propaganda and extreme violence. Other tech companies, such as Twitter Inc. and Facebook Inc., have said AI is the answer to their problems too, from online harassment to election meddling by foreign states.

Also, since I happen to have two identical webcams lying around, I adapted the code to also handle concurrent stereoscopic video feeds for the fun of it. It wasn't really meant to be a super rigorous implementation (ie, I used lstm instead of cnn layers), but I still think it had some mildly interesting outcomes. Also, imho the video feed of the loss makes for some fun visual effects.
Audio Network Partners with Musiio to Harness the Power of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Audio Network Limited, one of the world's largest independent creators and publishers of original high-quality music for use in film, television, advertising and digital media, continues its focus on technology by partnering with Musiio to explore the power of AI to improve customer service and delivery. This industry first will equip the global music company with an added interface to their existing search platform, to make their catalogue of over 170,000 tracks even more discoverable, whilst keeping the human touch that Audio Network has always been known for. Singapore-based Musiio provides a new way of "listening" to music at scale, easily searching up to one million tracks in under two seconds and supercharging a team of music researchers to increase their efficiency in responding to music briefs. "AI has been on the fringes of the music industry for the last few years, with talk of labels signing algorithms. But recently, more commercial and practical uses of this powerful computing technology have begun to surface," explained Musiio CEO and co-founder Hazel Savage.
