[D] GPT-J for text generation: hardware requirements

#artificialintelligence

Video games have, for several decades, only loaded the assets they needed to use, as they used them, due to tiny RAM amounts relative to the asset sizes yea. The original Playstation is a good example with its 2MB of RAM and 800MB discs full of assets. Enabling the ability to do something at all for many, is often more important than being able to do it extremely quickly for a few. Modern games get around this in part, by having the graphics driver handle all the asset management in and out of VRAM, allowing the driver to swap the least recently used assets out to RAM until they are needed, and then swap them back to VRAM, without the executing program having to know it happened. Basically treating all of VRAM and virtual VRAM hosted in RAM as one big asymmetrically speedy storage medium.

Netflix picks up rights for a documentary on the 'Tinder Swindler'

Engadget

Netflix has purchased a documentary on the "Tinder Swindler," who tricked women he met on the dating app into giving him millions of dollars. The notorious con-man pretended to be Russian oligarch Simon Leviev, the son of Russian-Israeli diamond mogul Lev Leviev. He would take his victims -- mostly Scandinavian women -- on trips via private jets, stay with them in luxury hotels and treat them to expensive dinners. In truth, he's an Israeli man named Shimon Hayut, who fled to Europe twice to escape theft, forgery and fraud charges in his home country. Online dating scams have been fairly common these past years, with con-artists using every available outlet into finding potential victims.

Global Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Platforms Growth Opportunities

#artificialintelligence

GNW Insights from AI/ML platforms not only explain what happened (as in looking at the rear-view mirror), but can also predict future outcomes based on different scenarios and suggest or even trigger actions autonomously.Additionally, combinations of AI/ML platforms with applications like chatbots, cybersecurity or automation can control or reduce costs of scaling operations. These tools usually have shorter returns on investment and their business cases are easier to defend. But the real power of AI/ML platforms resides in the potential to generate additional or new revenue streams. From being something reserved for large corporations with vast financial resources, AI/ML is starting to become accessible to even small businesses without a dedicated team of data scientists. Insights-driven organizations are rapidly getting ahead of the competition. In the medium term, AI/ML adoption is forecast to be essential for business survival.

Computer Vision or CV can be defined as a field of study that aims to develop techniques to enable computers to "see" or develop "vision" and also understand the content of digital images such as photographs and videos. Top Ten Stories in AI Writing: Q2, 2021 - Robot Writers AI

#artificialintelligence

Indicators that writers will need to scramble lest they find themselves replaced by a robot in coming months or years were out in full force in Q2. Those included a warning that some big news outlets are simply dying to replace writers with robots. Says Dan Kennedy, a journalism professor at Northeastern University: "Let me introduce you to the two most bottom line-obsessed newspaper publishers in the United States: Alden Global Capital and Gannett. "If they could, they'd unleash the algorithms to cover everything up-to-and-including city council meetings, mayoral speeches and development proposals. "And if they could figure-out how to program the robots to write human-interest stories and investigative reports, well, they'd do that too."
