You might have watched at least one AI movies from all time favorite AI movies such as Metropolis, Terminator, Blade Runner, Wall-E, Ex-Machine etc. But not like in the movies, AI in real life is not even closer to what we see in them even up to today. So where did it all start in real life? And how did it start?

Disney's Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is going to cost you. For two guests in a standard cabin for a two-night adventure, you'll have to set aside just shy of $5,000. Disney is promising it as "part live immersive theater, part themed environment, part culinary extravaganza, part real-life role-playing game." The company offers more details on how your story might unfold, with the ability to choose to side with the First Order (boo), or ally with the resistance. There will also be lightsaber lessons, optional missions and the chance to interact with iconic SW characters who will, well, behave like video game NPCs.

MFuseNet: Robust Depth Estimation with Learned Multiscopic Fusion

We design a multiscopic vision system that utilizes a low-cost monocular RGB camera to acquire accurate depth estimation. Unlike multi-view stereo with images captured at unconstrained camera poses, the proposed system controls the motion of a camera to capture a sequence of images in horizontally or vertically aligned positions with the same parallax. In this system, we propose a new heuristic method and a robust learning-based method to fuse multiple cost volumes between the reference image and its surrounding images. To obtain training data, we build a synthetic dataset with multiscopic images. The experiments on the real-world Middlebury dataset and real robot demonstration show that our multiscopic vision system outperforms traditional two-frame stereo matching methods in depth estimation. An Empirical Study on End-to-End Singing Voice Synthesis with Encoder-Decoder Architectures

With the rapid development of neural network architectures and speech processing models, singing voice synthesis with neural networks is becoming the cutting-edge technique of digital music production. In this work, in order to explore how to improve the quality and efficiency of singing voice synthesis, in this work, we use encoder-decoder neural models and a number of vocoders to achieve singing voice synthesis. We conduct experiments to demonstrate that the models can be trained using voice data with pitch information, lyrics and beat information, and the trained models can produce smooth, clear and natural singing voice that is close to real human voice. As the models work in the end-to-end manner, they allow users who are not domain experts to directly produce singing voice by arranging pitches, lyrics and beats.

In his new documentary, film-maker Morgan Neville drops a pinch of artificial intelligence into his recipe, using the technology to construct a few lines of voiceover by Bourdain. A lot of critics -- including Bourdain's ex-wife Ottavia -- find Neville's creative choice completely unpalatable, suggesting the end result amounts to little more than a deepfake.
