Kilmeade: George Orwell's dystopian society becoming a reality with Biden's latest action
BRIAN KILMEADE: In his classic novel "1984," George Orwell warned the world of the dangers of government addicted to power. One where the narrative was controlled by the state and the people were forced to bend a knee. Truth-telling became the cardinal sin of Orwell's dystopian state, where a power hungry state reigned in on shutting down free speech and was all guided by what Orwell termed the Ministry of Truth. A propaganda branch of the state, in his book, whose priority was to control all forms of public information where industries like journalism, entertainment and art were all controlled by Big Brother, and the state told you what the truth was actually in their mind, which was the truth accepted. Now, the people had no say in any of it.
Why Deep Learning Technology Is Dividing Opinion In The Tech World
The history of deep learning goes back as far as 1943, when Walter Pitts and Warren McCulloch created a computer model based on the neural networks of the human brain. Today, if we asked a language model like GPT-3 to write an article about the history of deep learning, it might begin with that sentence. Many changes led from Pitts and McCulloch's early neural network to what we now call "deep learning": the addition of backpropagation (Yann LeCun and others), and the creation of "deep" networks with many "hidden layers" (Geoff Hinton and others) are perhaps the most important. And while early neural networks couldn't be programmed effectively (if at all) on the computers of their day, deep learning has now become commonplace. What was once couldn't even be implemented on the largest supercomputers run comfortably on your laptop.

This is an Op-ed about the future of the internet and, while speculative, it's an example and an attempt to demonstrate how Artificial Intelligence at scale in a human would or could have disastrous impacts without AI regulation and AI ethics to protect us. GPT-3 stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer. As you likely already know GPT-3 is an autoregressive language model that uses deep learning to produce human-like text. It is the third-generation language prediction model in the GPT-n series (and the successor to GPT-2) created by Microsoft-funded OpenAI (that was supposed to be a not for profit firm). In 2021 we've had a NLP-explosion year in terms of Artificial Intelligence activity.

But every so often Snap, which calls itself a "camera company," produces new hardware. Things get a little weird. This is one of those times. During its annual Snap Partner Summit today, the company showed off a flying camera, the type of device otherwise known as a drone.
Resonance as a Design Strategy for AI and Social Robots
Resonance, a powerful and pervasive phenomenon, appears to play a major role in human interactions. This article investigates the relationship between the physical mechanism of resonance and the human experience of resonance, and considers possibilities for enhancing the experience of resonance within human–robot interactions. We first introduce resonance as a widespread cultural and scientific metaphor. Then, we review the nature of “sympathetic resonance” as a physical mechanism. Following this introduction, the remainder of the article is organized in two parts. In part one, we review the role of resonance (including synchronization and rhythmic entrainment) in human cognition and social interactions. Then, in part two, we review resonance-related phenomena in robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). These two reviews serve as ground for the introduction of a design strategy and combinatorial design space for shaping resonant interactions with robots and AI. We conclude by posing hypotheses and research questions for future empirical studies and discuss a range of ethical and aesthetic issues associated with resonance in human–robot interactions.
