Media
We are all the scatman
Synthetic media describes the use of artificial intelligence to generate and manipulate data, most often to automate the creation of entertainment. One of the inevitable capabilities of artificial general intelligence will be the ability to understand and synthesize reality. As such it should not be to anyone's shock that as we approach the era of general AI our computers become increasingly capable of mimicking creativity and imagination to generate new and altered forms of media. One of the capabilities of artificial intelligence is the ability to generate content for use in music, visual art, CGI, and photo/video manipulation. Generation, smart manipulation, personalized content, and media synthesis are woefully overlooked abilities of machine learning.
How 'League of Legends' made its first proudly gay, Black champion
K'Sante's launch was complicated by some of Riot's marketing efforts. Lil Nas X is this year's "League of Legends" World Championship performer, after the annual esports event "hosted" a group of virtual Korean pop stars called K/DA (a group invented by Riot) in years prior. Lil Nas X's collaboration came with a big marketing rollout: The singer debuted a new theme song, and starred in several advertisements where he pretended to be the so-called president of Riot Games. The collaboration will also help Riot sell in-game merchandise: Lil Nas X designed a cosmetic skin for K'Sante that will be sold for real money via in-game currency.
Creating a Music Streaming Backend Like Spotify Using MongoDB
This article was published as a part of the Data Science Blogathon. You must have seen streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer, and Apple Music. So, what better way to flex our backend skills than to work with MongoDB to create our own Spotify backend clone, all with NodeJS? In this article, I will show you how to handle uploading songs to the database, streaming music, user authentication, the ability to choose your favorite songs, and a recommendation engine using machine learning. First up, here is how to set up MongoDB Atlas for NodeJS. You can either register with your email address or use a GitHub or Google account to log in. Enter the new project name and click Next.
Murdered grime star is brought 'back to life' using deepfake AI
A murdered grime star has been brought'back to life' using deepfake AI technology in a new music video to warn against the dangers of knife crime. Joshua Emmanuel Ribera, performing as Depzman, was stabbed to death outside a Selly Oak nightclub in Birmingham in September 2013. His mother, Alison Cope, is a prominent anti-knife campaigner and head of the Joshua Ribera Foundation. She worked with Jamal Edwards, before his death in February 2022, and various other artists and performers to recreate the rising grime star. The video uses deepfake technology to tell Depzman's story through a new song called Life Cut Short, describing his childhood, his career and the night that he died.
"Unleash all this creativity": Google AI's breathtaking potential
Google's research arm on Wednesday showed off a whiz-bang assortment of artificial intelligence (AI) projects it's incubating, aimed at everything from mitigating climate change to helping novelists craft prose. Why it matters: AI has breathtaking potential to improve and enrich our lives -- and comes with hugely worrisome risks of misuse, intrusion and malfeasance, if not developed and deployed responsibly. Driving the news: The dozen-or-so AI projects that Google Research unfurled at a Manhattan media event are in various stages of development, with goals ranging from societal improvement (such as better health diagnoses) to pure creativity and fun (text-to-image generation that can help you build a 3D image of a skirt-clad monster made of marzipan). The big picture: Fears about AI's dark side -- from privacy violations and the spread of misinformation to losing control of consumer data -- recently prompted the White House to issue a preliminary "AI Bill of Rights," encouraging technologists to build safeguards into their products. Yes, but: Google executives sounded multiple notes of caution as they showed off their wares.
Four AI Challenges Businesses Face in the Supply Chain - Business News Wales
Technology has made significant advancements and has already solved many of the supply chain challenges affecting companies today. However, we can't claim that all the challenges have decreased when compared to previous years. On the contrary, globalisation, trade sanctions, Brexit, an eCommerce revolution and finally a global pandemic are just some of the factors that are complicating an overcomplicated supply chain – especially for companies that might lack the resources of bigger corporations. Developments in AI have assisted in the planning and development of operations across the supply chain. And if the pandemic has taught us one thing, it is the importance of forward planning and anticipating supply chain challenges.
