Reddit has collected a treasure trove of human interactions and conversations throughout the past 18 years and this rich data pool has been the perfect spot for companies to train large language models, otherwise known as AI chatbots. Now, Reddit wants a piece of the AI pie and will begin charging companies for API access, which is necessary to train LLMs. After all, these are not mom-and-pop companies using the API to train AI chatbots. Bigwigs like Google and OpenAI use Reddit to help provide initial guidance to burgeoning artificial intelligence services. To that end, Reddit is introducing a "new premium access point for third parties," the company said in an official announcement.

Professional photographers may benefit from how Adobe sees it--taking high ISO shots in low light. Doing so introduces the "speckles" where an image sensor struggles to present the image clearly, due to issues like pixel density, the size of the sensor, and shutter speed.

The WEF's conclusion stems from new research showing that advancements in automation and AI will allow robots to take over a significant proportion of domestic chores over the next decade. Specifically, a panel of AI experts estimated that, based on a list of 17 common domestic tasks, an average of 39% of the time spent per task could be automated within 10 years. The findings were published in PLOS One, a peer-reviewed journal.

The Israeli author and historian said a lack of safety measures in new AI tech could cause the West to lose to China. Israeli historian and "Sapiens" author Yuval Noah Harari claimed there is no kill switch for artificial intelligence (AI) and urged for the implementation of safety checks and guardrails, or else risk the possibility of societal collapse. During a March interview with ABC News, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was asked if ChatGPT had a "kill switch" in the event their AI went rogue. Altman's responded with a quick "yes." "What really happens is that any engineer can just say we're going to disable this for now. Or we're going to deploy this new version of the model," he added.

Since 52-year-old German artist Boris Eldagsen went public with the fact that he won a Sony world photography award with an AI-generated image, relations between him and the award body have soured. Sony have issued a statement, saying: "We no longer feel we are able to engage in a meaningful and constructive dialogue with him." His website reads: "Sony: Stop saying nonsense!" "I don't know why they behaved like this," he says, speaking to me from Berlin on the morning after the controversy broke. But I have a fair idea: plainly, they feel like they were conned, and had their aesthetic discernment called into question.

Photographer Boris Eldagsen won the creative category of the open competition for the Sony World Photography Awards 2023 with his "photograph," titled "Pseudomnesia: The Electrician." The image, which depicted an older woman holding a younger in black and white, was "the first AI generated image to win in a prestigious international Photography competition," Eldagsen said in a statement posted on his website. "How many of you knew or suspected that it was AI generated? Something about this doesn't feel right, does it? "AI images and photography should not compete with each other in an award like this.

While speaking on CBS's 60 Minutes, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that society is not ready for the rapid advancement of AI (Artificial Intelligence). The advancement of AI, according to Pichai, will have an impact on "every product of every company." The Google CEO further added that society would need to adapt to the fast-paced changes brought about by AI. He said that a plethora of jobs would be affected worldwide, such as writers, accountants, architects, and, even software engineers. "For example, you could be a radiologist, if you think about five to ten years from now, you're going to have an AI collaborator with you. You come in the morning, let's say you have a hundred things to go through, it may say, 'these are the most serious cases you need to look at first.'"
