NASA: Google AI tool discover the 8th planet in Kepler-90 system eStufs
Google and NASA announced the discovery of a new planet in the Solar System Kepler- 90. It was achieved using machine learning. The Scientists have applied neural networking to Kepler data and found for the first time an eighth planet in the Kepler- 90 system. This unites the Kepler 90 system with our system for the most planets in any known system. Google's neural network has discovered the new planet Kepler-90 i. it is hot, rocky planet orbiting its star once every 14.4 days.
The U.S. leads in artificial intelligence, but for how long?
Even as the world's top artificial-intelligence researchers gathered in Los Angeles this week, many are beginning to wonder just how much longer the U.S. will remain the epicenter of AI. The Neural Information Processing System (NIPS) conference in Long Beach is the number one place for presenting breakthroughs in AI. But U.S. government policies threaten to put a dampener on the recent boom in the field. The U.S. Congress's tax plan is the latest challenge, threatening to raise costs for graduate students significantly. This follows reduced funding for fields including AI and tightening of rules on immigration for international researchers.
Predicting readmission risk from doctors' notes
Craig, Erin, Arias, Carlos, Gillman, David
We develop a model using deep learning techniques and natural language processing on unstructured text from medical records to predict hospital-wide $30$-day unplanned readmission, with c-statistic $.70$. Our model is constructed to allow physicians to interpret the significant features for prediction.
Forbes
Cognitive computing and AI have become a big part of business plans going forward. A recent survey finds one in three businesses say they already have fully implemented AI across their organizations. Another 20% have implemented AI at parts of their business. It's surprising to imagine that 33% of today's organizations are already full-functioning AI enterprises. It's not clear from the survey results, posted by EY, what respondents consider to be "AI" โ it's possible they are looking at advanced analytics and algorithms and branding that as artificial intelligence.
A Call for Caution as Artificial Intelligence Makes Its Way into Government
Have a question about taxes, vehicle licensing or simply need the phone number for a state agency? If you live in Mississippi, just ask Alexa, Amazon's digital assistant that has been programmed to also work with state and local governments. In fact, Mississippi is one of several governments that uses so-called chatbots to handle a range of basic but frequently asked questions. In Utah, teenagers can solicit help reviewing questions that might be on a driver's test. In Los Angeles, residents can get detailed information about city-sponsored events.
AI offers us a new path to opportunity โ codeburst
The age of artificial intelligence is here, jobs are going away, and we need a new way to participate the wealth created by AI. We need a new path to opportunity that is available to everyone. In this post, I propose a new ownership-based way to gain wealth from AI. Employment is not required. I will also offer you an opportunity to participate. For the past two centuries, capitalist democracies have operated largely on the idea that there are owners of businesses, and laborers who serve them against a wage.
Drone ban: FAA adds to the list of places where you can't fly your bird
File photo - An airplane flies over a drone during the Polar Bear Plunge on Coney Island in the Brooklyn borough of New York Jan. 1, 2015. While it seems unlikely that everyday drone hobbyists would want to make a beeline for their nearest nuclear facility to grab some aerial shots, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has nevertheless announced a ban on drone flights over such locations in the U.S., namely: As you can see, they're mainly labs, while the Hanford Site, for example, is a mostly decommissioned nuclear production complex. Another of those listed, the Pantex Site, is an active nuclear weapons assembly and dismantlement plant. The restrictions, which come into force on December 29, have been put in place "to address concerns about unauthorized drone operations over seven Department of Energy (DOE) facilities," the FAA confirmed on its website. It added that "operators who violate the airspace restrictions may be subject to enforcement action, including potential civil penalties and criminal charges."
Why Cybersecurity is Ripe for AI Innovation
"AI could boost average profitability rates by 38% and lead to an economic increase of $14 trillion by 2035." The future of business is increasingly based on anywhere, anytime, any device/person connectivity. While the phenomenon called "digital transformation" (DT) is being driven by technology, it really comes down to innovation, says Juniper Networks CEO Rami Rahim. "Secure networks are a critical element in helping companies innovate faster, and with boldness." AI and machine learning (ML) are playing a greater role in ensuring secure innovation.
Boeing reveals drone that can refuel jets in midair
Boeing's defence arm has unveiled a radical unmanned drone that can refuel fighter jets in mid air. The small, unnamed craft will be carried on warships and catapulted into the air in the same way fighter jets are. It will be able to refuel the F/A-18 Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler, and F-35C fighters - and means they can stay at the battlefront for far longer. Boeing's MQ-25 unmanned aircraft system is completing engine runs before heading to the flight ramp for deck handling demonstrations next year. The aircraft is designed to provide the U.S. Navy with refueling capabilities for the F/A-18 Super Hornet, Boeing EA-18G Growler, and Lockheed Martin F-35C fighters The MQ-25 'Stingray' will be launched from the deck of a warship using the same catapult used to launch fighter jets.
