Future of Recruitment 2020-2030 – Your Future Starts Today

#artificialintelligence

The future is also not all bleak as clearly there are many new jobs being created. The IDC sees 2.1m jobs being created in the US by technology augmenting workers in the world of CRM over the five years to 2021. AI has the potential to make many jobs more productive and remove a lot of the mundane and boring elements of jobs. A key conclusion worth noting is how to protect yourself from unemployment which is listed as education. The World Economic Forum estimates that those with GCSE2 have a 46% risk of losing their jobs whilst those with degrees are only at a 12% risk. What we are going to see are jobs being defragmented and the tasks that can be automated being undertaken by machines and tasks that requiring humans being consolidated into new roles. In fact the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs 2016 estimates that 65% of primary school children will end up working in jobs that don't exist yet. Part of the reason for the variation in predictions comes form the fact that there are a number of scenarios being considered.

The risk from robot weapons

#artificialintelligence

One of the greatest risks of the next few decades is likely to come from robotic weapons, AI (artificial intelligence) weapons, or lethal autonomous weapons (LAWs). In August 2017 as many as 116 specialists from 26 countries, including some of the world's leading robotics and artificial intelligence pioneers, called on the United Nations to ban the development and use of killer robots. They even said that this arms race threatens to usher in the'third revolution' in warfare after gunpowder and nuclear arms. They wrote, "Once developed lethal autonomous weapons will permit armed conflict to be fought at a scale greater than ever, and at time scales faster than humans can comprehend. These can be weapons of terror, weapons that despots and terrorists use against innocent population, and weapons hacked to behave in undesirable ways."

White House Hosts Meeting on Future of Artificial Intelligence

#artificialintelligence

The White House plans to convene a meeting on Thursday on the future of artificial intelligence in U.S. industry with major companies including Facebook Inc., Amazon.com Inc., Google parent Alphabet Inc. and Oracle Corp. as well as senior government officials. Intel Corp. CEO Brian Krzanich and the chief technical officers of Ford Motor Co. and Boeing Co. are also due to take part in the event, along with executives from Mastercard Inc., Microsoft Corp. and Accenture, administration and industry officials said. The Pentagon and the U.S. departments of agriculture, commerce, energy, health, labor and transportation are due to take part in the daylong meeting that will look at artificial intelligence (AI) innovation and research and development and removing barriers to its application. AI and machine learning, with their growing capabilities and application, are expected to have far-reaching implications for a range of industries and the U.S. economy, according to experts. Dean Garfield, president and chief executive of the Information Technology Industry Council, called the event "an important step to building collaboration between government and industry."

The Fundamentals of Deep Learning

@machinelearnbot

Advanced computing enables us to make connections like never before. We can teach machines to detect cancer, identify cybersecurity threats before they happen, and optimize business operations – the possibilities are endless. So how can machines continue to learn, without the dedication of abundant resources? Deep learning, a sub-mechanism of machine intelligence (MI), is a computing process that enables machines to find patterns in data. Deep learning sifts through data and makes connections, identifying odd trends that would be unfindable by the human senses.

Governing Artificial Intelligence: A $15 Trillion Proposition – MeriTalk

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) could increase global GDP by $15.7 trillion by 2030, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers. The prevalence of AI in modern society is growing at a rapid pace–and the Federal government needs to keep up. On April 24, the Brookings Institution released a deep dive report on AI. After examining the multitude of sectors AI is impacting, the report offers steps the Federal government should take to get the most out of AI while still protecting important human values. In the realm of AI, China is outspending the United States.

FAA Relaxes Drone Restrictions With 10 New Programs

WIRED

The space above your head--currently filled with sky, maybe some clouds, and the passing bird or plastic bag--is valuable. Many a company would rather see it filled with drones, saving lives with emergency drugs, delivering items you ordered online, monitoring crops, and handling a bajillion other tasks. But if given free rein, some worry, these quadcopter capitalists might darken the sky with their machines, deafen us with their buzzing, and shower debris on those below when they inevitably collide. To avoid an aerial apocalypse, the FAA has so far taken a restrictive approach to drones. It limits commercial operation by requiring permits and imposing restrictions like banning beyond-line-of-sight flights and nighttime operations.

Government Will Test And Collect Data From New Drone Programs In 10 States

On Wednesday the Department of Transportation announced the launch of a pilot program that will lead to new regulations. On Wednesday the Department of Transportation announced the launch of a pilot program that will lead to new regulations. Here's a hypothetical: How tolerant would you be of a drone flying over your head or zooming through your backyard, if it were carrying life-saving medicine to the scene of a hard-to-reach accident? The U.S. Department of Transportation plans to collect the answers to questions like this, and a slew of other data, in a new test project called the Integration Pilot Program. After combing through 149 applications from state, local and tribal governments seeking to partner with some of the world's leading technology companies, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao announced the winners Wednesday.
