French secret service intercepts drone near president's summer home
This week, the French secret service (Groupe de sécurité de la présidence de la République, or GSPR) took down a drone that was flying in the airspace above Fort de Brégançon. This spot on the French Riviera is well known as the summer home of the French presidents. It's unclear whether President Emmanuel Macron and his wife were in residence at the time. The concern over the drone centers on whether it might have been an assassination attempt on the French president. Earlier this month, the Venezuelan president may have been targeted in a drone attack.
Germany lifts ban on depicting Nazis in video games
Computer games will now include images such as the swastika of Hitler's Nazi Party after a major ruling in Germany. Until now, such symbols have been banned. That has left games largely using disguised versions of the same imagery, for fear of running foul of laws in Germany's constitution. But the country's game classification body has changed the way it will assess such games, allowing them to include historically accurate images – with some strict restrictions. The I.F.O. is fuelled by eight electric engines, which is able to push the flying object to an estimated top speed of about 120mph.

The Nigerian government has approved the establishment of a new agency for robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) as the country begins work on a strategic policy blueprint to commit more resources to research in science and technology. Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya, announced over the weekend, at a political rally of the All Progressives Congress in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi state that the agency has been given the official nod by President Muhammadu Buhari. The new agency to be set up in the south east of Nigeria, probably in Abakaliki or Enugu, according to insiders in the ministry of Science and Technology, would leverage collaborations with international research bodies on robotics and AI. It will enabled research and teachings in more complex technology skills to thousands of young people. "The ultimate goal is to have an agency mandated solely on advancing our knowledge and usability of robots and AI across sectors in Nigeria. The idea is to leapfrog our growth" said a source at the presidency.
Mike Pence: US to create Space Force by 2020
The US is planning to create The Space Force, a new branch of the US military, by 2020, Vice President Mike Pence announced on Thursday. It would become the US military's sixth branch, following the Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps. "America will always seek peace in space, as on the Earth. But history proves that peace only comes through strength, and in the realm of outer space, the United States Space Force will be that strength in the years ahead," Pence said in an address to the Pentagon. As we continue to carry American leadership in space, so also will we carry America's commitment to freedom into this new frontier.

iCAD gains FDA clearance for AI software that calculates breast density
The software, compatible with iCAD's digital breast tomosynthesis solutions, uses artificial intelligence to assess patients' breast density. "At iCAD, we continually strive to provide radiologists with the most advanced, accurate and efficient software solutions designed for the early detection of breast cancer," Ken Ferry, CEO of iCAD, said in a prepared statement. "Breast density plays a critical role in both risk assessment and accuracy, as mammography sensitivity is reduced to approximately 48 percent from an average of 98 percent in those women with dense breasts. Our cutting-edge technology rapidly produces consistent breast density results while reducing the risk of reader variability, enabling radiologists to more easily identify women who might benefit from additional screening." The solution delivers breast density measurements according to the American College of Radiology's BI-RADS reporting system.
