Christa Pike's prognosis still unclear after failed execution, lawyer says US murderer Christa Pike remains critically ill in hospital and her prognosis is still unclear following her failed execution, her lawyer has said on Sunday. Speaking to CNN on Sunday morning, Pike's lawyer Stephen Ferrell said doctors were still trying to clear two doses of pentobarbital from her body. Pike, 50, was sentenced to death following her conviction for murdering Colleen Slemmer in 1995. She survived two execution attempts on Wednesday, and was transferred to a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Ferrell said: She's still in the hospital, on a ventilator, critically ill, we really don't know the prognosis yet, and may not know for several days.

A US Marine has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found in a hotel in Okinawa, Japan, local officials say. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi described the crime as a brutal and heinous robbery and murder. She said she had urged the US to enforce stricter discipline of its personnel. Japan's public broadcaster NHK identified the victim as Yagi Anna, 39, and the suspect as Devin Jacob Ballard, 20, who is stationed at US Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. We are actively cooperating with Japanese authorities, in response to allegations of serious criminal actions by a Marine, the Marine Corps said on social media, extending condolences to the victim's family.

A museum spokesperson said the public response to the 11th Century embroidery had been extraordinary, but acknowledged that some visitors had waited longer than they would have wanted. Some people reported waits of up to two hours, while hundreds of ticket holders were reportedly turned away due to backlogs when the museum closed early last week due to a private event. Some ticket holders took to social media to complain about the disruption. One disappointed visitor said the trip had been a big event they had looked forward to, while another wrote she had been waiting since she was seven to see the Bayeux Tapestry, and bought tickets only to be turned away after queuing.
