CoDEx: A Comprehensive Knowledge Graph Completion Benchmark

We present CoDEx, a set of knowledge graph Completion Datasets Extracted from Wikidata and Wikipedia that improve upon existing knowledge graph completion benchmarks in scope and level of difficulty. In terms of scope, CoDEx comprises three knowledge graphs varying in size and structure, multilingual descriptions of entities and relations, and tens of thousands of hard negative triples that are plausible but verified to be false. To characterize CoDEx, we contribute thorough empirical analyses and benchmarking experiments. First, we analyze each CoDEx dataset in terms of logical relation patterns. Next, we report baseline link prediction and triple classification results on CoDEx for five extensively tuned embedding models. Finally, we differentiate CoDEx from a popular link prediction benchmark by showing that CoDEx covers more diverse and interpretable content, and contains fewer relation patterns that can be covered by trivial frequency-based rules. Two Are Accused of Hacking U.S. Websites With Pro-Iran Messages

Two men have been indicted on charges stemming from the hacking of dozens of websites based in the United States, actions that the federal authorities said were taken in retaliation for the death in an American drone strike of Maj. The men, Behzad Mohammadzadeh and Marwan Abusrour, were charged with conspiracy to commit intentional damage to a protected computer and intentional damage to a protected computer, according to the indictment, which was dated Sept. 3 and unsealed on Tuesday. Mr. Mohammadzadeh, a citizen of Iran who the authorities believe is about 19 years old, and Mr. Abusrour, who is about 25 and whom the indictment identifies as "a stateless national of the Palestinian Authority," are believed to be in their home countries. The indictment, announced by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts, did not identify or describe the approximately 51 websites that were attacked. The attacks began days after American officials announced the death of General Suleimani, Iran's most powerful security and intelligence commander, in a drone strike at Baghdad International Airport on Jan. 2, according to the indictment.

Computational modelling has been brought under the spotlight during the COVID-19 pandemic, with scientists trying to predict how the SARS-CoV-2 virus will spread. On 23 March 2020 UK prime minister Boris Johnson announced a lockdown to tackle the spread of coronavirus, following the example of other countries around the world who chose this strategy to halt the virus' progression. This decision came days after Johnson's government toyed with the idea of letting the virus spread and infect up to 70% of the population, in order to develop so-called "herd immunity". The stark policy shift left people wondering what had changed. They predicted that should no action be taken, the death toll in the UK could reach 500,000, and may exceed 2 million in the US.


AI investment to increase but challenges remain around delivering ROI

Two-thirds of senior executives across industries -- and nearly nine out of ten leaders from the world's largest enterprises -- believe AI is vitally important for the future of their businesses and will be increasing AI investment in the post-pandemic era. However, significant challenges remain on delivering ROI from AI investment. An ESI ThoughtLab study of 1,200 organisations has revealed that companies are generating on average an ROI of only 1.3%, while 40% of AI projects are not yet profitable. The reason for this, according to the research, is that AI initiatives require time, expertise and scale to deliver on their promise of high returns. With the pandemic speeding up the need for quick data-driven decision-making, companies should act now to develop the skills, platforms, and processes that can enable them to achieve the full strategic, operational, and financial benefits from AI.

Formed in 1959, Simulmatics charged clients a hefty fee to access its "people machine" -- a computer program that drew on polling information and behavioral science to predict mathematically the impact of an advertising pitch or political message.
