The second application uses an AI tool that should be in every risk manager's toolbox: simulation. This simulator will aid teams in running mock scenarios to better plan and prepare for the next big natural disaster. Many companies were caught flat-footed by COVID-19, perhaps the largest disruption to global trade in a hundred years.

Zero Trust has come under fire for not explaining the process behind identifying corrupt individuals. And it still heavily relies on humans, which could make much of its work invalid if these people are also unscrupulous.

Robot soldiers could soon make up a quarter of the army
In the age of artificial intelligence, robots will soon represent a large part of the armed forces, according to the UK's chief of the defence staff Nick Carter, who predicted that up to a quarter of the army could be made up of autonomous systems in the near future. Speaking on Sky News for Remembrance Day, the general speculated that as cyber and space join the more traditional army domains of land, air, and maritime, so will AI systems become an integral part of the armed forces' modernization effort. Carter warned that decisions haven't been taken yet, and insisted that his predictions were not based on firm targets. He nevertheless shared his visions for an armed force that is "designed for the 2030s". As cyber security becomes even more crucial amidst Covid19 pandemic, artificial intelligence and machine learning backed solutions are helping several insurance companies tackle these threats, an EY report said. In a recent case, EY had helped an insurance company tackle the cybersecurity threat and this could be replicated throughout the industry. An Indian insurance company was looking to augment its internal security to protect its data, systems, and infrastructure from potential cyber security threats. In addition, the company determined that it needed a 24 7 security log monitoring system that could operate 365 days a year along with the capability to conduct analytics, threat profiling, correlation and alerting, EY report said. The company is now not only able to prevent active threats, but also conduct analysis on potential vulnerabilities.
LA county officials want to rewrite rules to remove a sheriff

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted on a motion to explore options for removing Sheriff Alex Villanueva, including an amendment to the state's Constitution. The 3-2 vote directs county officials to examine ways in which they could impeach Villanueva from his position, or, at least, scale back his responsibilities. One of those options proposed would amend California's Constitution to make county sheriffs be appointed, rather than elected.
Australia Post trials machine learning to estimate parcel delivery times
Australia Post is using machine learning to calculate the arrival time of parcels down to a two-hour window based on data from a new route planner that has just been rolled out to delivery drivers. Executive general manager for transformation and enablement John Cox on Tuesday said the new feature is currently being trialled to give customers a more accurate estimate on delivery times. "What we're trialling – and this is not out in the public yet – is what we call an estimated time of arrival," Cox told the Digital Transformation Agency's 2020 Digital Summit. "So based off when the postie scans the parcel in the morning to put in their van, we'll be able to notify the consumer that it will be delivered within that window of time." The estimate is calculated using the "single scanning platform" that all deliver drivers use to scan their parcels before their run, which also determines the "optimal" route for each delivery run.
