We can see the future of the world heading to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Not a single sector is thought to be left untouched by this futuristic growth. Making a machine learn normal human speech is a task, but is possible.

Forms of automation such as artificial intelligence increasingly inform decisions about who gets hired, is arrested, or receives health care. Examples from around the world articulate that the technology can be used to exclude, control, or oppress people and reinforce historic systems of inequality that predate AI. Now teams of sociologists and computer science researchers say the builders and deployers of AI models should consider race more explicitly, by leaning on concepts such as critical race theory and intersectionality. Critical race theory is a method of examining the impact of race and power first developed by legal scholars in the 1970s that grew into an intellectual movement influencing fields including education, ethnic studies, and sociology. Intersectionality acknowledges that people from different backgrounds experience the world in different ways based on their race, gender, class, or other forms of identity.

On March 29, 2018, during the "AI for Humanity" day, Emmanuel Macron announced the "National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence", inspired by Cedric Villani's report which called for "the awakening of France and Europe" in terms of AI. For France to have a role as a world leader in AI, this report recommended the creation of a network of Interdisciplinary Institutes of Artificial Intelligence. Four three 3IAs were finally selected and financed viaa 1.5 billion euro plan. Following an AMI launched by the French National Research Agency (ANR) in July 2018, the jury selected four 3IA institute projects from the sites of Grenoble, Nice, Paris and Toulouse and requested their labeling. Specificities that do not prevent them from operating as a network and creating excellent conditions for collaboration between public and private, academic research and innovation players of all sizes.

With resolution 1,000 times greater than a light microscope, electron microscopes are exceptionally good at imaging materials and detailing their properties. But like all technologies, they have some limitations. To overcome these limitations, scientists have traditionally focused on upgrading hardware, which is costly. But researchers at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory are showing that advanced software developments can push their performance further. Argonne researchers have recently uncovered a way to improve the resolution and sensitivity of an electron microscope by using an artificial intelligence (AI) framework in a unique way.

Clearview AI has been provided with the go-ahead signal for securing a federal patent for its facial recognition software, as reported by Politico. The US Patents and Trademarks Office sent a "notice of allowance" to Clearview on December 1, implying that the patent will be awarded once the organization pays the necessary administrative fees. The patent will, among other things, cover its method of obtaining information, specifically, its "automated web crawler" tool that scans social networking sites and the internet, the same process that has led the company to face extensive backlash from numerous privacy advocates. "There are other facial recognition patents out there -- that are methods of doing it -- but this is the first one around the use of large-scale internet data," Ton-That, the founder of Clearview AI, told Politico in an interview. Clearview AI has more than 10 billion photos in their database, which was confirmed by Ton-That, much more than the previous estimate of 3 billion images.

A new section of resources intended for artificial intelligence researchers was launched last Friday by the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Office, with a goal of providing easy access to data sets and testbed environments for AI application training. The AI Researchers Portal--a program within the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy--is the latest page added to the NAIIO website. Announcing its launch on Twitter, officials described it as "a central connection to many federally-supported resources for America's AI research community." Some of the available tools on the page include funding and grant information, datasets, computing resources, a research program directory and a testbed selection. With access to these resources, researchers working on AI projects can improve their studies and projects with higher-quality data from federal agencies like NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Institute for Standards and Technology, and the National Institutes of Health. The portal fulfills provisions established in the overarching National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Act that require NAIIO leadership to "promote access to and early adoption of the technologies, innovations, lessons learned and expertise derived from Initiative activities to agency missions and systems across the federal government."

Nowadays, it's more straightforward than at any other time to make a piece of graphic design, and this is particularly valid for logo design. Oracle's gargantuan $28.3 billion acquisition of health care data company Cerner, the largest deal in its 44-year history, is not just about electronic patient records. From algorithmic systems that predict the likelihood a patient will contract sepsis to tech that tracks hospital bed capacity, Cerner will bring an array of cloud-based data analytics and AI technologies to Oracle as it competes with Amazon Web Services, Google, IBM and others to serve the health care industry's data and AI needs. In fact, the deal is poised to shift some business away from AWS, which Cerner named as its preferred cloud partner in 2019. Oracle's acquisition of Cerner, a company that got its start in health care IT in 1979, is expected to close in 2022. The all-cash deal is also expected to improve Oracle's bottom line in its first year, the company said in a press release.
