The multi-day challenge took multiple attempts to fix. Breakthroughs, discoveries, and DIY tips sent six days a week. Curiosity got itself stuck between a rock and hard place last month, but NASA says there's no reason to fret about the intrepid Mars rover . On April 25, mission engineers were remotely piloting its robotic arm's rotary-percussive drill into a Martian rock nicknamed Atacama.

The Artemis II crew saw first-hand how water behaves a bit differently in zero-G. Breakthroughs, discoveries, and DIY tips sent six days a week. While space exploration is serious and sometimes dangerous scientific work, that does not mean that there is no room for fun. Something as mundane as a little ball of water can be supremely entertaining.
The sun just fired off two massive solar flares
But the X-class events aren't even close to the most powerful flare on record. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured these images of solar flares -- seen as the bright flashes in the top right -- on April 23 and 24, 2026. The images show a subset of extreme ultraviolet light that highlights the extremely hot material in flares and which is colorized in in gold and blue on the left and teal on the right. A new study of the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS led by the University of Michigan shows that its water has a remarkably high content of deuterium. This form of hydrogen is comparatively less abundant in our solar system, enabling researchers to glean new insights about other planetary processes at work in our galaxy. Breakthroughs, discoveries, and DIY tips sent six days a week. Astronomers knew 3I/ATLAS wasn't a local comet not long after first spotting it in July 2025 .

NASA's Curiosity Mars rover took this selfie at a location nicknamed Mary Anning after a 19th century English paleontologist. This was the site of the chemical experiment uncovering diverse organic molecules on Mars, in the Glen Torridon region, which scientists believe was a site where ancient conditions would have been favorable to supporting life, if it ever was present.
