Apple has acquired the Indian startup Tuplejump. This is the fourth machine learning company acquired by the high-tech giant over a one year period. Tuplejump's takeover by Apple actually happened in June but went unnoticed until now, according to Bloomberg. Tuplejump founder Rohit Rai is not living in Seattle, where Turi is located and he began working for Apple in May. Among Tuplejump's dozen workers, many were already based on the U.S. west coast.

If Ford, Volvo, GM and Uber are to be believed, self-driving cars will soon dominate our roads and car ownership will be a thing of the past. If regular consumers are to be believed, automakers need to hold their horses, because people aren't ready for a self-driving future. Those are the findings from a new survey commissioned by Kelley Blue Book, which polled 2,264 U.S. residents weighted to census figures by age, gender, ethnicity and location. The results, published Wednesday, found that 80% of survey participants said people should "always have the option to drive themselves." Sixty-four percent of respondents said they need to be in control of their own vehicle and 62% said they enjoy driving.

Latina and Latin American women artists rarely get air time in U.S. museums. That will change next fall when the Pacific Standard Time series of exhibitions devoted to art from Latino and Latin American artists around the globe is set to touch down in Los Angeles. Of particular note will be "Radical Women: Latin American Art, 1960-1985," at the Hammer Museum, set to take place in the fall of 2017. Today, the museum released the list of participating artists -- a lengthy lineup that includes 260 works by 118 artists (all women) from the U.S., Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America. Even Paraguay, never a contender in surveys about Latin American art, has two artists represented in the show.
