Today a new nonprofit organization called the Partnership on Artificial Intelligence to Benefit People and Society announced its establishment. Participants include Amazon, Google (and Google's DeepMind), Facebook, IBM, and Microsoft. Those companies will put up money and research resources (that could mean talent, open source code, or data). Company representatives will sit on the organization's board alongside people from academia, the nonprofit world, and policy and ethics experts, according to a statement. Plans call for discussions, studies, reports, best practices, and public outreach in general.

I have studied Mathematics and got my degree and I am very interested in applying for a Master in Machine Learning. Of course my math background is high enough I believe. We did some coding like C, R, Matlab and worked SPSS. Being able to decode human perceptions from brain signals can benefit this population greatly. That's what inspired Stanford University neurosurgeon Dr. Kai Miller to team up with Microsoft to offer the inaugural Cortana Intelligence Competition: Decoding Brain Signals. "The brain is an electrical organ with over 100 trillion synapses, connecting more than 87 billion neurons," explains Dr. Miller.

Recent strides in quantum computing have raised the prospects that near term quantum devices can expediently solve computationally intractable problems in simulation, optimization and machine learning. The opportunities that quantum computing raises for machine learning is hard to understate. The goal of this workshop is, through a series of invited and contributed talks, survey the major results in this new area and facilitate increased dialog between researchers within this field. In July of 2013 Toby Shapshak, the South African speaker, strategist and editor of Stuff Magazine, did a TED talk called You Don't Need An App For That. Business leaders, innovators and experience designers would soon realize how profound this TED talk was to the rest of the world. Shapshak's astute observations and message to the rest of the world was years ahead of a revolution that Forbes would call "the new way we'll be interacting with computers." Toby's 2013 Ted talk touted that "while the rest of the world is updating statuses and playing games on smartphones, Africa is developing useful SMS-based solutions to everyday needs". Since 2013 his TED talk has been viewed 1,438,046 times as of July 19, 2016. Fast forward a couple of years and we see more apps than anyone knows what to do with, as well as a notable decrease in usage and app-downloads. This has businesses confused and frustrated.
